Changing from years of wearing Phonak to Oticon. 👍

Realists followed by the Oticonian Real Morons
@prodigyplace: Well, Real is better than Lumity, by a long shot, but, quite honestly, this two-year new product launch cycle is getting tedious.
IMO, manufacturers are over-milking their “cash cows” - the insurance companies, NHS, and the various by “short-cycling” their new product rollouts.

From the rumors I have heard the Real is likely a minimal upgrade to the More. That makes it a 4 year milking cycle for substantial improvements.

@prodigyplace: Exactly … but they are impatient and taxing the private-pay segment by not being patient for 4 years.

I am impatient. I feel I have endured 4 years with a sub-optimal experience and am ready for More.
Rechargeable could very well be a way to increase servicing & reduce the expected lifetime of the product.

If the Roger X is Bluetooth, the Oticon ConnectClip should work too. I believe it is more highly available.

There is no way to plug a Roger X into the ConnectClip.
OK I thought the Edumic was mainly designed for educational classroom use.

Dang. Siemens. They were my first analog in the 1980s > 1990s. I miss analogs. Man, do I miss:
Being able to use a SWITCH to turn off anyone I don’t wanna hear.
Not being forced to open the freakin’ battery door to turn off the damned hearing aid.
The rich sound of analog.
Sorry. Just reminiscing about the good ol’ days before digital had to take over with their annoyances.
Here’s crossing my fingers that they don’t ever sell enough profound loss hearing aids to implement recharging in them.

Not being forced to open the freakin’ battery door
Well that is no longer an issue with the rechargeable aids LOL

Yeah but with rechargeables I’m left with at least 8 hours that I can’t hear. They are not for me. Ever.

Oticon More are supposed to last up to 24 hours and I do not usually wear my hearing aids while sleeping at night. They fully recharge in 3 hours, not 8. I believe most all the rechargeable aids recharge fully in 3-4 hours.

@prodigyplace: not so, Bruce. It’s a Dandy partner mic, great for listening to TV, and great at the table mic. I have one and it’s a very handy well-made accessory. I highly recommend the genuine Oticon brand EduMic.

Like I said . My sieman aids kept breaking. Now whenever I get a cat scan and see the name siemans on the machinery I break into a cold sweat.

@Mike59: Should you decide to give Oticonianism a go, you’ll find that our philosophy is generally one of minimalism , unbloated by pricey peripherals.
That might be the philosophy, but will it help me hear!
. I rely on the peripherals … TV Connector and PartnerMic in particular. The Roger Connect helps a lot in noise too. I admit to being dubious about aids that can alleviate the need for these accessories (especially with my level of hearing loss). But I’m not discounting it!

@Mike59 do you know what your hospital hand out? Might be worth just getting NHS HAs as back up anyway?
I plan to get the Oticon EduMic to attach a Roger X receiver to use my Roger Microphones.
Thanks both. @Zebras I will look into it at my local hospital I think (Chichester). The idea of a backup is a good one ![]()
