thanks for the answer,
I’m aware of that, but it won’t bother me much doing it once every six week. I was just wondering if reprogramming them via noahlink is enough or if i need a kind a licence from phonak to do so… i guess i’ll just try and see what happens.
regards
is it still possible to do that with target and noah wireless for phonak p90 model?
seller also added in description: “The trial hearing aids can be reprogrammed and use as emergency repair/ temporary replacement hearing aids.”
Yeah it should be, i haven’t heard anything to say that the paradise can’t be, have you got a copy of the target software so you can check this yourself.
yes i have target but i haven’t purchased trial aids yet - i wanted to make sure it’s possible to reset them after 6 weeks so i don’t end up with non-working aids if it’s not possible
Yeah that’s the thing, you’ll need the connected to check, there’s no reason to believe that they won’t work like the Marvel because the paradise is the same chip/processor.
The trial means AFAIK that you can choose the programming for the 50, 70 and 90 series all in the same if you programm them as Trials in the Target software. Actually they are the 90’s with this extra option.
Furthermore they can be used as Trials and you can use to stepwise programming for a first time user f.i. This is not necessary though. They then will have the step up gain during the trial and the user can get used to the louder sound stepwise. This without visiting the office to change the gain after f.i. 2 weeks of wearing.
Another future is that the loaner will bring them back in time as they will give him/ her sound alerts and at the end stop functioning. So they will get useless while the customer will not have a programming device and the software to restart them for normal functioning.
You can also programm them normally (not in trial mode) so they can be used as normally fu ctioning HAs. You only then have to reprogramm as you want to change something in the target software of course.
Phonak invented this for purpose of servicing the HA supplyer. Just one type having three different device options in one. So these trials are only available for the fitters.
Yes, the 6 week trial period restart each time you connect the to a PC with the Target software using the Noalink device. There isn’t much to do, just connect the HA to the software and the trial period will restart. It can be done in a minute…
However, sad to say, I once forgot the Noalink at home while in vacations (and the HA ended the 6 weeks trial), and it has been difficult to find an audiologist (phonak reseller) that let me reset the HA - He told me to ask to whoever sold them to me. So, bring the programmer with you wherever you go!
Hi. Yes you just need to connect them. Which means open a fitting session and then click on connect . You still have the statistics, your fitting parameters and so on.
Once the trial period ends, the HAs will starts beeping. Once every hour or something like that in he very first days but as time passes the beeping repetition time increases. One week after the trial period it probably will beep every five minutes (these are not exact values, I’m just trying to remember when it happened to me whilst in holiday - and I just ended up not using them).
I’ve started using the trial p90 one year ago and I’m very happy I got them.
Hope this will help.
Cheers
Max

Hello @serafini.m78
May I aks why you have them set up in option trial mode? If you program them as option normal ’s (not in the trial mode) then you do not have to connect them with the Noahlink wireless every time the trial ends in my opinion. Or am I erroneous?
a Trial aid is an special device prepared from manufacturer. When a trial device is connected within the fitting-software you are able to change the tech levels for the hearing aids by flashing/writing the needed software onto the device. This is possible only on the trial devices (marked with Trial), which normaly only become available for the professionals who are fitting the hearing aids

@firenzel
Sure, see my post from three days ago where I explained the trial version futures…
Hi @Emile030,
I don’t have a pair of trial to try this on, so I cannot verify your statement about being able to reprogram them using Target as regular HA. Are you sure about this?
Thanks,
Rob
yes, I got a pair of P90 trials and they work normally. you have to connect them to target once in 6 weeks to reset trial period. you also need Noah wireless for connecting with target.
Thanks @nidjo,
I note a bunch of sellers on ebay are selling Trial P90 , but say they have been reprogrammed. Have you made any efforts to reprogram them with Target as regular HA so you don’t have to connect every six weeks or so? I’m going to be on the road for a couple months, and don’t really want to take my Noahlink and a windows machine just to reset them.
Thanks,
Rob
well that’s the catch - you can’t do that, that’s why they’re significantly cheaper than normal aids - at least i don’t know how to do that.
i was worried about that too - going on a trip and forgetting to reset trial mode so i was thinking how to solve it - since there is remote mode in target software which is able to connect with myphonak app on your android phone, maybe it’s possible to connect to your pc at home via teamviewer (or some similar software) over your phone, and run remote mode in target - i think that’s enough for trial period to reset (some kind of camera must be connected to pc, otherwise remote mode won’t work!)
that’s just a theoretical solution, haven’t tried that in practice yet!
No unfortunately you’ll definitely need to do the reset, its not possible get around it, but its not much to do, i have windows tablet and its only 8", small enough to take anywhere, as is the NLW.

AFAIK You can normally programm them NOT as a Trial but as a NORMAL P50, P70 or even P90 in your Target software.
The Trial just is an extra additional possibility so the suppliers do not have to have to keep the different HA’s on the shelf. It actually will be the P90. This meaning that you do not have to reset once you programmed as normal. If you on the other hand choose for the tab “trial & tools” programming in the Target software you have the 6 weeks functioning. So the one without the software (the user for trial) can not use the HA’s without having paid for it. Phonak developed these “trial” HA’s with the goal to give the providers an extra usability, not to punish a sole person with the intention to use them for other purposes.
I cannot say a thing about the firmware as I did not researched this. But I assume that will be the only difference and you cannot change that because it will be fix burned on the Read Only Memory. As the firmware version nowadays is erroneously called like that but actually is the layer on top of the ROM.
So what you should do is program your trials NOT as such on the special trial tab, but as a normal HA in your Target software.
At least in my case with three trials it worked like that for the time I possessed them for about half a year. One was sold as a “trial”. Two of them were sold on Ebay as “new, with a small scratch”. With a loop I could identify the scratch being in place just at the trial print. All of them were rechargeables.
Advice: Ask one of the providers on the forum or Phonak itself to confirm. I just tested my own possession at that time… I cannot guarantee for other cases its just my two cents.
Thanks @Emile030!
This verifies my suspicions. I was going to try that, but I found so many on the forum who did the Trial thing (probably because it said Trial on the side) that I was worried. In a few days I should be able to verify it works myself, but if it worked for you with three sets, I will only add one more confirmation to your tests. Thank you so much for relieving me of my worry.
