this is true, but now everybody has a similar approach. I have seem the new
demo Signia looks interesting how well they perform in real life that will be
interesting to see

Just to mention a model that no one else has, the GN Resound Omnia has what they call Front Focus and that is quite aggressive in the way it operates. In my opinion it is much more effective than the similar focus program in the GN Resound One.

I’ve tested Omnias [with Front Focus] alongside recent Phonaks and Signias and in my opinion they have the worst beamfoming and noise management capabilities. But that’s just from my very subjective experience with them.

I agree, as you know I have the Ones and not Omnia, the Ones are pretty “aggressive” (Ultra Focus) in my opinion as with Signia compared to anything from Phonak or Oticon, again this is pretty subjective depending on ones hearing and environment at the time.

Interesting. To me the Omnias are just less digital sounding than the Ones. With my serious high and upper mid frequency loss it makes for better speech intelligibility.
I stick with Resound because I understand how to programme them myself. But I change my hearing aids often, like every year or thereabouts, so perhaps I should try something else next time. Or maybe not!

Same with me (well mostly, I didn’t bother lately because I just don’t think there’s anything “groundbreaking” that actually lived up to the marketing hype!) but I think you should give some of the others a go, the programming is very similar for most, except maybe Oticon Genie which takes a bit to get used to.
I’m waiting for some reviews on the new IX from Signia, but again I’m not holding my breath…

That is an accurate description of the beam forming for the speech-in-noise program since I had my audiologist set that up for me. I have often wondered if the open paradigm was a way for Oticon to simplify setup for audiologists at the expense of the end user. I had to use my old Alta Pros for a couple of weeks and found their noise cancellation to be far superior to the noise cancellation of the More 1s I use every day. Every once in a while I think about just using them, but then they don’t have a way to talk on the phone or stream music and get the sound to go into my aids. It is all about choices.
