Has anyone recent experience using Roger and Phonak aids?

Won’t work as soon as you turn on Roger, your will go to Roger program. Impossible to use any other program.

However, I will not tinker with my latest private hearing aids, as my audiologists input is frankly beyond my understanding, and I don’t want to lose his great work.

I have tinkered with streaming settings/Roger etc, as these are easy to reset to default.

One point, is that a lot of all this is personal, and can be different, for different people.

Yes, you can do an export, and import. I’ve done this. However, the results were disappointing. Speech recognition wasn’t good.

As an experiment, yesterday, I set up a new account (in Target) for my wife, entered an of zeros, and then did an “Audiogram direct”. She can hear a clock tick at 200 paces, but there was some mild loss in one ear. She’s 51, and hasn’t be subjected to decades of loud music. I did this with my Marvels (with vented domes).

After that, I started from scratch for myself. Like my Audiologist, I turned off WhistleBlock, and didn’t run the feedback/ tests. I suspect I’ll need to increase the on some higher frequencies, maybe reduce some lower frequencies (to avoid upwards masking). I won’t know until I try them out in a speech in noise environment.

I tried power domes the other day, and hated them. The occlusion was awful and far worse than my full moulds.

The experiments will continue :slight_smile:

It’s mainly outside with the Roger. In the car, it was pretty much a bust (me in back seat trying to hear those in front with tire noise, traffic, etc.,). Then at the restaurant, some places I can find a sweet spot to point at the person across from me, other times, either the person doesn’t project enough or the ambient noise of pizza joint or bistro, etc., overwhelms the Roger.

My “backup” is to just turn Roger off, put aids in “Speech in Loud Noise” and go from there. I think as I get used to using the Roger, I’ll figure it out, so these are my stumbling baby steps till I get there.

INSIDE the house, I only use Roger to stream TV, and so far, it is AWESOME! My aids still seem to tamp down volume (Noise Mgt?) but ack, I can get in to have that looked at.

Problem is, hubs and I watch these action flicks: Mission Impossible, Top Gun, Jason Statham anything, LOTS of car stunts, explosions and MAYHEM. My aids are about as good as they get, but my movie choices are making them walk HOT COALS.
