Yeah @glucas, I recall those days, not very fondly though! Around 12 years ago, we decided to move, well in truth our hand was forced, our boy was killed in a road traffic accident (Aged 22) he had won apprentice of the year for UK, the previous year for Scania as a Mechanic, he hit black ice out on a repair call, head on into a tree, mercifully he died instantly! Anyway, the wife kept seeing his room, so we had to move… So foolishly, on a whim, we thought, buy this ideal house that came up, without selling ours first, ours will sell… But it didn’t! Quarter of a Mil bridging loan, oldest daughter at University in Glasgow, and her rent to pay, and needing money to live, youngest daughter got pregnant, and not married, the wife was diagnosed with cancer! It was all happening at once, I ended up doing 2 jobs, 83.25 hours per week, every week for 2 years, I didn’t know what day it was, most of the time! But we survived to tell the tale, the house sold, after many, many months… Our daughters inheritance from her grandfather came through, the baby was born, the wife got the all clear, after about 5 months chemotherapy, then 6 weeks Radio Therapy, and I got the opportunity to give up one of my jobs, Megan got her degree, then did a Masters, then she did another 2 different degree’s, that lady loves leaning… But, she ended up with an excellent job… Sometimes, we have no choice, you either sink, or swim, in my experience, life can be extremely hard, and cruel in the extreme, but you can’t give up, other folks are looking to you for support, help and guidance, you have to just soldier on… Cheers Kev
Edit: On recollection… That should have read 83.25 hours worked per week, I don’t know where I got 88 hours, I have revised accordingly… Basically, I worked 7 days a week, @ 8.75 hour per day with criminal justice, no days off, in 2 years, they just paid me for my holidays, something that is highly illegal in employment law… I was aware of this, but I needed the money… I also did 22 hours per week, with the NHS, basically again, 4 nights, at 5.5 hours per night, but they did give me holidays, so some weeks, I only did 61.25 hours, suffice to say, it was a long 2 years! Cheers Kev
