Thanks all for the suggestions. I think I need a trip to my audi for some updates to my default program settings. I think I mentioned previously, but will repeat: whenever I am streaming TV or music, the Phonak app makes it easy to raise or lower microphone input levels for background noise. This is a feature that I have made good use of.
I saw that a couple of posts up, disgusting. Ignoring someone like that is best. I will ignore him too. I have found your evaluation excellent for real world testing and I am getting one in the next couple of weeks. I’ll post something after about how I feel with them after 4+ years with Naida Marvel P90s.
You will hopefully do well with the Phonak Naida Lumitys @RKoenn53, after seeing your , you might actually get away with Naida Lumity SP ’s, a lot smaller, if that is an issue, but not much difference in power, but only a 13 battery… Although, I must admit, I prefer the larger Naida Lumity UP BTE, I get around 11 days runtime, with the 675 batteries, with a moderate amount of streaming, they have excellent Bluetooth connections… If possible, try NAL NL2 fitting formula, it can sound a little harsh, to begin with, but once you acclimate, you’ll enjoy that crisper sound… Good Luck with the new aids, and please let us know, how you are getting along. Cheers Kev
I got my Lumity 90, right ear only, Tuesday and so far am very pleased. Just driving home I noticed that the background road noise was far lower than my 5 year old Marvel. It is a larger aid but not that much and doesn’t really make any difference. My experience so far is limited but clarity does seem noticeably better and I am hearing things I didn’t before. So far though it is good to hear things better rather than annoying. Right off though having full functionality again with working is a blessing. I tweaked my TV program but it was working well with the defaults. Anyway, I’ll pop back in after more time with it but am very pleased so far. Over here in the US they are $2700 each from my clinic. Being fairly experienced my fitting only took about an hour and the programming algorithm seemed to do a great job so far. I did enjoy your continuing experiences and should find out tomorrow if they help with the grandkids who don’t have great pronuciation yet and bad higher frequency voices.
Thank you @RKoenn53, hopefully you’ll hear the grandkids better? Was it the Naida Lumity Ultra Power or Super Power you got? Did you ask for NAL NL2 fitting formula? 2 aids are obviously better than one, I don’t have much residual hearing in my left ear, but I do notice “Big Time” if the left ear is unaided… But, perhaps at some point you can buy another aid, although obviously you can use one of your Marvels, in the opposite ear, it will not give stereo streaming, but it will assist you to hear better…I could not function with the left ear only aided, I would struggle badly…If it was the right ear only, I would probably get bye, but it wouldn’t be ideal… But needs must, in my book, we can only go for the best options available within our means, 1 good aid is always preferable to none! I was most fortunate, Boots Hearing Care, asked me to do a review/assessment of the Naida Lumity 90 UP ’s, in comparison to the Naida Paradise 90 UP BTE’s which I already owned, I was told if I liked them, they would knock something off the retail price, I did indeed like them, so they gave me a 30% discount or approximately £900 off the £3k asking price for the pair, so I paid around £2100 in total… A no brainer for me, being retired, probably involved 20 hours effort going back and forth to the Audioligist meetings, answering dozens of questions & writing up a review for them via email, I was delighted with there generous discount, and if prompted again, I would be more than delighted to do so again, saves me money, and they are getting some genuine feedback, Phonak owns a 51% controlling share in Boots Hearing Care, so they probably still made a profit on the deal? Here in the UK, the dispensaries are competing against the NHS, the NHS aids are free (at point of service) so prices are cheaper on this side of the pond… Good Luck with the new aid, cheers Kev
But, perhaps at some point you can buy another aid, although obviously you can use one of your Marvels, in the opposite ear, it will not give stereo streaming, but it will assist you to hear better…
This has made me think.
At the point of programming, in Phonak Target, maybe there is a way of pairing 2 different generations of Phonaks as “a pair”. I shall experiment. It could save money for some users. I know I can use a mix of hearing aids with the TV Connector, and I get full stereo (eg: a left programmed Marvel with a right programmed SP). Of course, the TV Connector & Roger devices just “transmit”. Any paired will connect, unlike Bluetooth
Yeah Peter, I was aware of using TV Connector 2, with 2 different aids, I believe, I tried it with, 1 marvel & 1 Lumity, when my mould was causing pressure sores in my right ear… I have managed to hopefully sort my pressure sores problem, it basically took a couple of weeks light use of my moulds & aids, some days I went aid-less I used some steroid cream, to treat the sores, and eventually they cleared up, and we are a happy bunny again As to whether you can pair to different aids simultaneously via Bluetooth, my instinct says probably not, but hopefully you can! So please let us know how you get along…Cheers Kev
OK, I just reset 1x Sky M70 & 1x Naida M30 and tried to set them up as a pair, in Target. I got this:
So, they wouldn’t programme as a pair.
I reprogrammed each pair from scratch after this experiment, and paired both to both my TV Connector (V1) and my Roger On. They both worked with the Roger On, and the TV Connector worked in stereo whilst switch between
If they were both the same tech level you might have a better shot at it.
Well Sky Bolero M70 & Sky Naida M70 pair up just fine. Thinking about it, they’d have to be both the same generation and tech level, as I doubt Target couldn’t run 2 versions of Autosense at the same time.
Peter
Interesting Peter, well done you sir! I suppose the next question is whether 2 different chipsets will pair, marvel to Paradise or Marvel to Lumity, or indeed Paradise to Lumity? Not that I am needing them to pair, but others might? Thank you Peter Cheers Kev
I’ve just tried pairing an Audio P90-13T with a Lumity P90 SP
They wouldn’t connect as a pair.
My conclusion of differing models connecting as a pair in Target is:
They must be fitted with the same fitting formula
They must have the same version of Autosense
The Autosense options (tech level) must also match
Any mismatch and Target would struggle. For example I have my Marvels using: Adaptive Phonak Digital. My Paradise and Lumity use Adaptive Phonak Digital 2.0. I doubt Target could process a pair using 2 different Fitting programs at the same time. I would expect the same with Autosense, with both its version and its available options. My Marvels have Autosense 3.0 (M30, M70, M70, M70-NHS), Paradise Autosense 4.0 (P90) and Lumity Autosense 5.0 (L90)
Obviously, these will still work together with the Partner mic, TV Connector and Roger devices, but they won’t connect as a pair for Bluetooth phonecalls or streaming. My phone has all connected in Bluetooth, but will only allow one connection at a time.
Thank you Peter, a work around might be the Roger Pen 1.1… Although, I have never tried to connect my Pen to my mobile, but If memory serves me correctly, the Roger Pen can connect to a cell phone, then perhaps be routed from different models of Phonak aids with Roger X receivers? Just a thought… Cheers Kev
Would be a nice experiment indeed I’m interested in also! Unfortunately I sold my 2 Pens and only have the 2 kinds of Roger Ones in my collection at the moment. So can’t try it out myself.
Thank you for this! I have big issues hearing in noisy environments. Do you think getting a sphere infino might work for me even though I have severe/profound loss.
The Spheres, could be worth a trial @tofarati24… That’s a steep sloping loss you have, but with compression, you might be fine? I would speak to your Audiologist, and see what they recommend… Good Luck, cheers Kev
