Dr Cliff not recommending Costco

I’ve watched a lot of his videos. That’s because I have a lot to learn. I reach a saturation point and then don’t go looking anymore. I’m at that now. Then a video pops up…

Seems the more I watch videos the more questions I have.

I wish my hearing aids had been setup properly so I could hear.

edit: I’ve been on another forum for about 20 years. dpreview Ammazon owned it. For a while they planned to shut it down. I learned not to take special forums for granted. This one is a special forum. I receive so much help here, and I need it!

What kind of camera(s) do you have? I’m still undecided.

I was evaluated both there and UCI for a cochlear implant. At the time, my L side had too much comprehension to qualify. It’s worse now. I had Meniers years ago, and this seems to be the sequelae. I never got hearing aids from them. They probably are full price for Phonacs, etc. I found their evaluation very thorough. I’m a retired physician, he might have spent a little more time with me, but I thought they were competent and smart.

Met a good friend on Sunday and asked how he was. He said he was doing great and could hear me. I was puzzled? He smiled and said he could finally hear me clearly, smiled, proudly pointed to his ears and thanked me for the Costco tip.

When I realized I was Hard of Hearing my first reaction was that hearing aids cost so much!
I bought one because I couldn’t afford two. That was over 20 years ago.

I appreciate that Costco offers hearing aids with such a good price and excellent warranty. I believe that we all profit from the hearing aids they offer.

Dr C’s review of equipment has helped me. However, his content rarely helps me learn about setting up the hearing aids I have. What features do my hearing aids have? What do I have access too? What has my programmer missed setting up my hearing aids? How can I improve their setup?

I’m not a Costco customer.

The Phillips aids are not Oticons but getting closer.
It seems Costco has raised the bar for many brick and mortar hearing aid places.

My 2¢ opinion, I’ve had ’s for almost 20 years and I switched from private practice HA’s to Costco in 2021. I’m not sure I would ever go back to private and it’s not a money issue (saving is always great though) I have RHSL and Costco was far superior and accommodating in making adjustments that I requested. My previous private practice wouldn’t listen to my complaints or requests to try different adjustments and they only sold one brand. I have the KS10’s and have not had the battery issue that everyone has complained about. They’ve been the best I’ve ever had so far. You can beat Costco’s 180 day return policy, I bought the KS9’s and Philips in 2021 at the same time to see which I liked best, returned the KS9’s and bought the KS10’s and then ultimately returned the Philips. It was the best way to see how new technology could be programmed with my difficult RHSL. As Costco said to me, it’s my hearing, if I don’t like something we’ll keep adjusting.

I have the KS 10’s since 2021, also never had the battery problem. They have been excellent. Had them serviced before warranty expired, came back as new. Also included, cleaning and ajustments, although I don’t know if there is any time limit.

I know in US there is no time limit on cleaning and adjustments. After warranty is expired one has to pay for repairs, including new receivers.

Great! I’m guessing they had extras in stock. I think I was told when I asked about consequences of ended Phonak contract that receivers would be about $100.

I have no issues with Costco, they replaced my ks 10’s after almost 3 years because the battery charge degraded. I program and they still replaced the aids.

Ditto experience here in UK but I’m very tempted to go elsewhere to trial the new Spheres. I’m also curious about the Philips 9050’s (when they finally get released at Costco) as my profound loss in the high frequencies means that speech in noise while useful and potentially amazing is not my primary concern. So I may hold out for the Philips.
