DIY Hearing Aid Adjustment

I have been wearing hearing aids for over 50 years, and I have always used an audiologist for adjustments. Having a fair amount of computer knowledge, I was thinking of purchasing the next online, along with the Noahlink, and then adjusting them myself.

Since there are several people on this forum who adjust their HAs themselves, I would like their opinion on this idea of ​​mine: could I do it? Or do I risk doing very serious damage?

Hi there, absolutely you could do this, the thing to remember is to do your research and read the user guides before jumping in plus ask questions if your not sure about anything, there plenty of us to help you along, by doing this you can have a successful project on the go.

Thank you so much. As for the software, I currently have the Target updated to v9.1.1 and I still don’t see v10: maybe because it hasn’t arrived in Italy yet?

Got the 10.0.0 this morning UK time, check maybe it will show up.
USA had it since last week if I am correct.

Yeah just keep trying, it’ll probably be in the week, the roll out for the sphere was world wide so can’t be far away, you could always change the country to UK or USA if you wanted 10 right now tho.

While waiting to buy the Nohalink, I’m trying to figure something out. For example, how do you read those fitting charts? Is there some kind of guide somewhere?

Hover your cursor over each of those to see the gain value /thresholds, G50 to G80 are the red, that black one , that green is what the is outputting, but that looks like your on a different screen, it’s for tinnitus controler or something? I’ve not seen it before.

I haven’t bought the Noahlink yet and so I haven’t started self-adjusting yet.
In the meantime I’m trying to get informed because I’m afraid of further damaging my poor hearing.
What I posted is an image of a fitting taken from the web and I used it as an example.

Oh ok I see, well don’t worry about doing any more damage, so long as you enter your audogram correctly you’ll not have this issue, so did you read the step by step guide, this is quite helpful on the process to set up the first time, target software is user friendly, it sets everything up quite nicely for a first fit, you could go in as a “new” user after making a client up and this will set everything to 80% of what you’ll require, let target do the hard yards, as you have target you should get familiar with how it works by setting up “demo/dummy” fittings while you wait for Noahlink wireless.
