I tried these years ago and ended up returning them because there was no way to manually control the level of noise cancellation in “Communicate” mode, which is what you’ll be using most of the time if you want to use them as hearing aids rather than earbuds. In situations where the noise level was just on the border of the trigger, or where it fluctuated a lot, it would go from ‘fine’ to ‘inaudibly noisy’ seemingly at random. That was the program automatically dropping from high to medium noise cancellation.
The most stark example was when my husband and I were driving down the highway in his noisy car, trying to listen to an audiobook on the car’s speakers. Most of the time, I couldn’t hear it well enough to follow it, but sometimes - seemingly at random - I’d get 5-10 seconds of really good clarity. I eventually figured out that when another car passed us, that increase in background noise kicked up the level of noise cancellation temporarily. It was frustrating because I knew the devices had the ability to do what I needed, but there was no way to force them to do it the rest of the time.
It looks like they may have made some adjustments to the app since then, so maybe that’s possible now. I liked them, and had it not been for that issue, I would have kept them.
