A few weeks ago I cracked my cell phone and it completely died (Pixel 5a). It took almost a month to work out a replacement at low cost. During that time I couldn’t adjust the volume on my Widex because they have only one switch and it’s set to change programs (on both aids). I’ve worn the Widex since March and am largely pleased with them, being a person who needs the more mellow and natural sound they provide for live music but also to hear as best as possible the very high frequencies (like >6 kHz) of some bird species. So, I was able to manage without the phone by changing programs. But it was frustrating.
I’d like to know if it’s advisable to get another pair of hearing aids (perhaps because I’m not made of money) that would not be dependent on a cell phone app to change the settings. I’m regretting somewhat that I chose the Widex because I don’t like not being able to change program AND volume with only the switches on the aids.
I’m also interested in how much time it might take for a semi-geeky (but somewhat attention–deficient) person to learn how to use some of the self-adjusting software.
Any advice appreciated–I’m very thankful for this community and all the information and compassion here.
