I suppose it is a circular 360 footprint with a 10m radius, which is 20m diameter if put in the centre.
Assuming you could get them cheap from ebay, you could potentially achieve a good result.
The only drawback is you will need to pair each hearing aids, but you only once.
A bad Planet Earth ground is a century old misunderstanding.
The connection to Planet Earth has nothing to do with good day-to-day power quality.
Just make sure that everything in the audio system is powered from the same AC circuit.
But you aren’t “logging in”, you are just decrypting the broadcast. Similar to how satellite radio works, your receiver receives the signal and knows how to decode it. If you don’t pay they stop sending the decrypt key your radio needs to read most of the stations. It is all one-way. You put the decryption into into your receiver and it knows how to receive it.
I would refer you to this article4 on issues with encryption. There are also documents published by the SIG. There is no pairing or interaction needed from clients back to the broadcaster. The assistant provides the key (AES 128? I think) based on the code, which can be typed in, from a QR code, or an NFC device transfer.
I thought the principal is the same as wifi, you select the stream and if it needs a password then you could ask the admin of the auracast stream for the password, if it doesn’t need a password then you are good to get the stream.
Similar to how wifi works, there free wifi you just select and use and there are other wifi that require a password.
At Bethel, we found clear audio distribution with excellent streaming range. We are using the Homespot transmitter. We are testing with multiple receivers, including Android with Samgung Galaxy Pro3 ear buds. We are trying to work with church members who are using hearing aids. Our old transmitter and receivers are so poor as to be useless. The Auracast units are so inexpensive, compared to other systems.
The streams are more like radio transmissions emanating from traditional station, the stream can be “heard” by multiple Auracast Bluetooth receivers at once. The Auracast transmitters support two kinds of stream, high quality and standard quality streams. The high quality stream allows encryption, if wanted. The format allows several devices to receive the same Bluetooth stream, where traditional Bluetooth supports two devices at a time. WiFi allows multiple devices to share a common bidirectional network which can include an Internet connection.
My understanding is that the process is similar with the exception that the key is in the assistant and you don’t transmit to code to the broadcaster. The log-in process stays within the phone.
Obviously, is a one way broadcast and wifi isn’t a broadcast, nor is it one way.
Login to me implies an interaction with an authenticator of some kind. All you are entering in aura cast is the key. If you don’t type the key in correctly you can’t decrypt the stream. No interaction. If you don’t have the key right, your receiver can’t use the stream. But the password or key never leaves your device.
WiFi uses a handshake to set up the encryption environment. There is a sophisticated conversation back and forth regarding several aspects of the connection. Nothing like that happens with . There is an ability to host an unlimited (relatively- you have to be close enough) number of receivers. This is because there is no connection. Like the tv or radio broadcast, you are just pulling the signal in and processing it.
You still have to type in a code even if the decryption key is built into the assistant. So you are still logging in, and you need that code to listen to a private broadcast.
Technically, both HQ and SQ stream can be encrypted or be open. However, when we launched the first round of products in 2024/1H, it caused too much confusion to customers. Well even within the HomeSpot team for the BA210. Therefore, we then changed the factory settings to let HQ be encrypted (more for home/private listening), and SQ be open (more towards hearing aids users and public listening) for BA210 v2 in 2025, and let them switch between the two with a push switch.
