Laptop audio to hearing aids AND allow others to hear

I have Oticon INTENT, iphone 12pro, and Lenovo ideapad 5 (does NOT support LE audio and only have bluetooth 5.1 I think) …

Issue/challenge: How to get laptop audio to go to my hearing aids AND still allow others to hear it, without them having to have headphones,etc …

Any way possible? I have been struggling with this for months … I thought perhaps another TV adapter 3.0 and was excited when I found one at Goodwill, still in the box, although it does NOT have the power cord … BUT I think I read somethere that connecting the TV adapter to the laptop I’d use the RCA connector, and that would ONLY allow audio to go to my hearing aids… true? If so, any other ideas for me? Again, I need to have audio available for others to hear as well as audio going to my hearing aids … TIA

Thanks… I tried FMA120 and ended up returning it, because I had to keep re-pairing my hearing aids, and other folks still had to have headphones or hearing aids to hear audio… my laptop does NOT support LE audio, so I assume even with it won’t help solve the issue?

I’m waiting to see what the Oticon “easy LE adapter” will do … I can’t get any information about it and don’t think it’s available in U.S. yet … hoping maybe it will work like the TV adapter does (audio to hearing aids but others can still hear it )

Anyone think that a USB-A to Toslink adapter might work to use Toslink from TV adapter 3.0 hooked up to my laptop ?

I would still keep FlooGoo in mind. I suspect you will see some kind of assistant coming to Demant product apps by the end of the year.

I can think of a way but it’s really really strange and expensive. You need a way for your laptop to output to 2 audio sources at once. that can be done if you buy a soundcard with 2 audio outputs. The Audient evo cards would do this, I forget which one now but not the smallest Evo, the one up with headphones and speakers output at the same time. Or you could find another card to do this. It must be able to send to 2 audio sources at the same time.

Then, you need some sort of device to stream to your oticons. I’m afraid I don’t know what streaming devices they have, but you need one with a 3.5mm jack socket. This way you can buy a cable to go from one audio output of the soundcard, into that streaming device. This gets your hearing aid set up.

For your 2nd audio output on the soundcar, buy some stereo speakers with a 3.5MM jack plug and get a converter to plug in the soundcard.

This is a really really really strange way of doing it, but it should work. Now you will have sound to your hearing aids and speakers at the same time and the evo cards will let you control the headphones and speakers seperately so you should be able to get the right volume for everyone.

Have you tried an audio cable splitter (male to two female–about $7 on amazon), connecting your tv connector to one lead and a cheap pair of speakers to the other? Haven’t done it but I don’t know why It wouldn’t work.

Thanks… was hoping I wouldn’t have to do that but… I bought a Toslink adapter (since my laptop doesn’t have Toslink port,) but it’s still only going to my hearing aids… guess I can’t do it from laptop (like the adapter works with the TV )?

The problem seems to be with Win 11. While it allows you to pair with multiple devices, it seems that only one device can be selected for output. There are apparently work arounds that I have not tested. Google “windows 11 output to multiple audio devices” and see if any are applicable to you.

The TV adapter does have a Toslink and RCA output, but only one works at a time I believe. I have three of those TV adapters, used them for years. Pretty sure I would have tested that.

I would say the easiest for you is the suggestion of an Audio Splitter.
That should work fine.

I do video production so have a thousand cords and connectors.
One side of the splitter goes to speakers, and the other to the TV Adapter. This is the simplest. And only a few bucks.
You probably have the adapter from the 1/8 TRRS ( tip ring sleeve ) to stereo RCA needed for the audio in on the TV Adapter, as I recall that comes with the adapter.

Thanks… Yes, let me know what you would suggest from Amazon for splitter … although I’m wondering if there will be latency with output going to speakers and to my hearing aids… I was HOPING I could somehow get the TV adapter to work like it does with TV eg, audio to my hearing aids and others can still hear the TV … guess that’s not possible (or my laptop isn’t fancy enough) … but I’m willing to try splitter idea… Thanks!

Well the TV, has its built in speakers - right. So the speakers are in a sense a parallel output to the Toslink.
It is possible you could get a Toslink splitter.
I have used the TV Adapter to feed a second TV adapter.
For example, right now, as I am testing and deciding between the Phonak Spheres and the Philips 9050, I have the Toslink to Philips TV adapter, and looping out to the Phonak TV adapter.

I don’t think Latency will be an issue.
Both the audio outs are parallel.

Please clarify - you want to feed the computer audio out, to both your TV Adapter which has a RCA input, and also a speaker - correct?
What input does your speaker have - is it like a logitech speaker with its own audio cable, does it have terminals?

My ideal setup would be just like the TV works - the audio goes to my hearing aids but others can still hear the audio without having to wear headphones etc. and without having to have speaker hooked up to the laptop. my laptop is Lenovo Ideapad 5. I even bought a toslink adapter thing so I could use the toslink to connect tv adapter to laptop. But I guess it’s not possible.

Ahh, so you want to play via the built in notebook speaker.
The problem is that when you connect any output to the jack, i believe you will be disconnecting the speaker. What you need is an external speaker, in parallel with the TV adapter connected to the computer.
So you need a Y connector that splits the signal between the external speaker(s) and the adapter.

Amazon lists a variety. Some have both a USB and Audio plug.
But you only need an audio plug.
The computer natively will ONLY OUTPUT to one port.
That is why you need to split that output.
And why you need an external speaker to be fed, one of the two splits.

No not a different type of speaker. It is wired / switched differently.
You probably have an in depth Audio menu, in which you can choose various outputs. You have the Toslink chosen, which is set up to work along with the built in speaker. But the computer does not work this way. When you insert a plug into the computer jack, it mechanically disconnects the speaker.
