My 2023 Phonak died in the 16 hours nonstop flight. Was a pain playing my guitars.
Had the 2002 Unitron and am using it now till the Phonak is repaired.
NO problems at all playing my guitars…sound beautiful. Audiologist says it’s garbage!!!
Any idea why it sounds so beautiful?

The success of a hearing aid depends mostly on the programming , much more than the hardware itself .
Phonak and Unitron are cousins (they are both under the umbrella of Sonova) so it is unlikely that the difference in sound is due to the hardware itself (it’s possible but most likely it is the programming difference).

I had worn Oticon aids for 15 years. My most recent Oticon aids are the INTENT1 aids. On Friday I received my first ever set of Phonak aids, the. Spheres and not the Ultras. My Spheres will be updated as soon as the firmware update is made available to my clinic. I had been told I would not like the sound of the Phonak Spheres because of wearing the Oticon aids so long. Well I guess I am different because I love the Spheres.

Just taking a stab based on very little information. Guessing you have a high frequency loss and the Unitron isn’t giving you as much highs as Phonaks did. This results in “richer” deeper sound. Solutions usually involve setting up a music program although I find just lowering the volume on my KS9s makes my guitar sound much richer.

These are really from 2002? Are they analog? That kind of aid is often highly desired by those who started out on analog aids.
