i have oticon opn 1, i could not connect my hearing aid to laptop for bluetooth. Then i was told that i would need to buy oticon Connect Clip in order to connect my laptop but the issue is price. However i heard that Airpod Pro 2 has an amazing feature for hearing disability and it is cheaper. However my concern is sounds quality and could you please share your experience.
As a professional cheapskate, I bought a pair of Apple AirPod Pro 2 headphones as soon as IOS 18.1 came out. I took the hearing test on my iPhone 13 and started using them as hearing aids. The first thing that was a problem was the discomfort from wearing them continuously for more than a couple of hours straight. Another issue was the feeling of occlusion when wearing them. To even take the hearing test, it’s required to find the correct domes that fit tightly in your ears. However, the biggest issue was understanding my wife’s conversation. After all, she was the catalyst that convinced me to get a hearing checked in the first place. Although the taken on my iPhone was identical to the one I took at Costco about a year earlier, my wife’s conversation was still not as clear as I expected. I have a mild to moderate hearing loss in the high frequencies.
Another issue was that the AirPods look like AirPods. Other people think that you are listening to music, or on your phone and don’t realize you are talking to them. I really wanted them to work because I have been an Apple user since 1985, and I hate spending money. I returned them and made an appointment to get a new hearing test from Costco, purchased their Jabra Enhanced Pro 20 hearing aids, and I have been very happy with them and the care I received from Costco.
BTW they are wonderful for streaming music. Also, they automatically will switch from your iPhone to an iPad without having to do anything whichever is closer.
If your purpose is simply for laptop or other streaming use, and your losses are mild-moderate, it should work ok. However, for general hearing I find them inadequate for noise management. Sounds are very sharp and crisp for me. They help me when my batteries don’t make it in my audeos and I use them to stream a lot. (I’m a heavy stream consumer) When there are people around they’re inadequate except maybe a quiet person. I dislike wearing them around my 2yo grandson.
They are good for zoom/google meet/teams. YouTube videos. Etc.

The Airpods Pro 2’s (with Hearing Assistance enabled) work well for me for streaming and use in noisy environments (airports / planes etc).
Music streaming is superb - and use on planes works very well. I can turn on transparent mode to to talk to and hear (very well) the flight crew and go to noise cancelling mode just to stream.
To connect to your laptop they should work very well (providing you have mild to moderate hearing loss so you can enable hearing assistance).
They also work fine for me as a back-up to my Eargo 7’s which I use most of the time. The Airpods Pro 2’s do a pretty good job in both quiet and noisy environments.
For me they are comfortable to wear to wear for 5 - 6 our hours when travelling and I have also run in them without issues - but others find then uncomfortable and they drop out - so your mileage may vary.
What hearing test results are you using for Hearing Assistance with the Airpods Pro 2’s? I have switched between the Apple Test Results, Eargo Test results and my from Costco.
I generally find they work best with the Apple Test results (for my Eargo’s I am using the Costco Audiogram which seems to work best)
I wouldn’t use them to connect to a non Apple laptop personally. My experience was that they lost their hearing personalization when connected to non Apple gear. That may have changed in the last year? Don’t know. If it’s just to stream from the laptop I use Earfun Air Pro 4 buds at less than a third of the price. There’s a limited hearing test included and if that doesn’t quite get you there there’s quite a good equalizer.
