I found this article during my search to find the correct settings for my in order to reduce my tinnitus.
Amplification Strategies to Reduce Tinnitus10
It provides a lot of insight in what is important when programming the HA’s for tinnitus reduction.
It discusses among others strategy ( vs NAL-NL 1), compression threshold / kneepoint (30db vs 50db) and directionality. The different configurations have been tested on a group of people and for each individual the preferred configuration is listed as well as the effectiveness.
Now I would like to use this information to get the best setup for me with my Oticon Real 1. In order to do so I need to understand the different settings, how to change them and what they do.
- VAC+, NAL-NL1 and DSL: Select in the program manager
- Directionality: More sound intelligence → Directionality settings
- /Kneepoint: This is the one I cant find. Does it have to do with the “Neural noise suppression” in the “More sound intelligence” section or are there some advanced/hidden settings that I am unaware of?
If so how should I set it to get the low 30db kneepoint?
Please be aware that my only goal is to get the best settings for my tinnitus. I have no problems whatsoever hearing or understanding what people say. The best settings for tinnitus may not be the best settings for compensating for hearing loss.
