AuraCast Success on Oticon Intent 1 and Pixel 9 & 10

I visited the Audiologist last week and got the update to Oticon Intent firmware 1.3.0, and along with it I was able to join an AuraCast stream. Pretty cool. The source of the stream is my colleague’s Pixel 10 paired to Pixel Buds Pro 2.

I’ve also streamed from my Pixel 9 to my hearing aids and his Pixel Buds.

Getting it working was no small feat. It involved firmware updates on phones, Pixel Buds, and hearing aids, factory resetting Pixel buds, repairing everything, enabling developer options, disabling block lists, and a lot of trial and error.

But here I am listening to a violin concerto.

The Pixel Buds don’t support AuraCast with the default settings. So to stream to both the hearing aids and the Buds, you need to enable the bypass allowlist switch.

I don’t know if this was needed for the Oticon Intent hearing aids, but the Pixel Buds needed it.

Some stuff on the web also suggested to enable the Unicast & Broadcast setting, but I think this was already set on my phone.

My Phillips 9050 hearing aids don’t need to go into the developer settings with my Pixel 10 phone. So this appears to be a Pixel Buds issue.

Good information for those using Pixel Buds. But kind of weird, since both your phone and the buds are Google products.

Yeah. Maybe the Pixel Buds aren’t ready for prime time. :person_shrugging:

I haven’t used AuraCast for anything other than streaming music with a friend, which is neat, but it seems a bit like a parlor trick. Has anybody used it with a public stream or other use case?

We are going to see if we can make it work at our square dance event next Sunday or Tuesday.

My only concern is the volume level for folks with open domes versus those with or molds.

My experience so far is that the avantree Oasis-Aura and FlooGoo transmitters are a bit wimpy volume wise for those wearing open domes. I’m going to see if I can raise the volume in the Homespot transmitter to see if I can get some more volume out of it.

It will be an interesting test to see how well it will work, and what the volume issues are going to be those wearing open domes versus closed domes or molds.
