I use Beltone Serene microRIE hearing aids, which support Bluetooth Audio LE (). The phone is a Xiaomi 14T Pro with Android 16, which also supports Audio LE, but is not on the Beltone device compatibility list.
The hearing aids connect to BT without any problems and stay connected. Audio streaming is decent.
Phone calls also work great in about 2/3 of the cases. People hear me, and I hear them loud and clear. The calls are hands-free, and I don’t have to speak into the phone’s microphone.
But in 1/3 of the calls, I have this scenario:
A few seconds after establishing the call, I no longer hear the sound from the left hearing aid. I can only hear the right one weakly, because my right ear is worse. Then I hear 11 beeps from the left aid, like when I take it out of the charger in the morning. I assume this means the left hearing aid has rebooted. During that time, the person I’m talking to no longer hears me. Then I have to switch the audio from the BT to the phone’s microphone and speaker, and end the conversation with the phone on my left ear.
When I end such a failed conversation, sometimes (not always) the aids stay in Audio Streaming mode, which is visible in the HearMax app. They stay that way until I exit the app and open it again. Once, I even found the Home screen split in half. The left device was in Audio Streaming mode, and the right one was in All Around.
I can’t find any rule as to when and why this happens.
