Best 312 hearing aid batteries in 2025 – recent user experiences

Hi everyone,

I’ve been testing different size 312 batteries for my Phonak hearing aids and collected some usage data over the past few months.
The brands I used were:

  • Energizer 312

  • Varta 312

  • Zeni Power 312

Based on my own log, Energizer gave me roughly 25 % longer battery life compared to the others, under similar conditions (Bluetooth on/off cycles, ambient temperature, etc.).

Now I’m curious to hear what others have experienced lately:

  • Have you found similar differences between these brands?

  • Is there any newer brand or production batch that performs even better in 2024–2025?

  • Any noticeable differences with wireless streaming or humidity sensitivity?

As for me I use either power one or powermax batteries.

I think it is important to consider the cost in relation to the amount of time a battery lasts.

A battery may last 25% longer but what if it costs 50% more?
It would be great if we could start to really look at the batteries and find the best ones out there.

Duracell. If not that, the 312s I used to buy from Costco were right up there. But I’m basically a Phonak 312 aid user with a drawer full of Duracell 312s. Happy Camper, too!

Update 1 – Additional data on cost per effective hour

I forgot to include an important part of my comparison:
I also calculated the cost per hour of effective battery use, based on Austrian retail prices and the actual runtime of each brand.

Here are the numbers:

  • Energizer: €0.37 per battery – 95.5 hours effective runtime
  • Varta: €0.33 per battery – 77.3 hours
  • Zeni Power: €0.33 per battery – 75.7 hours

When converted to cost/hour, Energizer turned out to be about 10% more economical than Varta and Zeni Power, despite having a higher pack price.

Note: “Effective duration” accounts for hearing-aid off time at night (estimated at 20% consumption relative to active hours).

I’d be very interested to know if others have done similar calculations, or if any brands offer even better cost-per-hour performance.

Thanks — I fully agree with your point.
That’s exactly why I added a cost-per-hour comparison in my update just above.

Even though Energizer had the longest runtime in my tests, I was mainly interested in whether the higher pack price still makes it economical — and the cost/hour numbers were quite interesting.

If you get a chance, I’d love to see similar cost/hour results for PowerOne or PowerMax, since those seem to
