Cleaning the Widex SmartRic

I’ve had my Widex SmartRic 440’ for about 2 years now. I just don’t see a way to clean the microphones since they have plastic covers over them and no videos show this. I can clean the domes, change the filters, de-humidify them and generally wipe them off but using brush on the microphones is not possible unless I’m missing something. Maybe they need to be sent back to Widex to really clean them or the maybe the covers keep the microphone clean?

Isn’t there a pin at the bottom?most rechargeable they can be pry/pulled apart, remove receiver, rocker switch, you’ll see the join seperating front and back, just clipped together? one thing tho is they claim to be sealed for better rating, is it worth it?

The sealing should be on the electronics, at least that seems the case with many brands with shells and pins. Shell clips can break off if one doesn’t know where they are. Perhaps Widex has diagrams someone has.

Yes that’s right, so you’ll need to be careful, I haven’t seen any diagrams as such for these models.

I read that Widex claims their microphone design, including the cover, was specifically designed to prevent dust, touch noise, and wind noise. I noticed that on their website, they explicitly advise contacting your provider if the microphone grid becomes clogged.

I have them ( and love them) . I don’t see a simple way to remove the cover ( and I would not remove the cover because I have a tendency of breaking small plastic clips in tech devices .

I think this is one of those cases where “ if it ain’t broke , don’t fix it “

Yep so many times you see people wanting a “fix” that doesn’t exist, but Widex is like all the others that make rechargeable models and are quite explicit about people sending in for anything basic like this, even for a colour change of the housing, there’s a lot to not like when you’ve gotten used to being able to do these things with disposable.
