Let us know if he can help… this has been a long standing request, so far I’ve wasted over £100 on a noahlink that I cannot use with my oticon optims

hopefully he can help
She actually ; )

As above, but you haven’t wasted money on the Noahlink, this is the industry standard for programming so you could use it on just about any .

Have you managed to get the hearing aids to show up in genie 2? And if so what version of the app? Cheers

No, the oticon optim is not shown in genie 2 by default regardless of the version. It is a custom model built for the NHS and has to be added by a specific code which is used to unlock the definition for the oticon optim . So far the code required has not been leaked. As far as I am aware.

While I only have oticon optim the money spent is practically wasted, I could put it up for sale on eBay but what if the necessary code gets released…. I’ve written the cash off for now as I can’t imagine buying any commercial HAs for thousands just to make use of the noahlink 2

Well not if zebras has the code, if not I guess you’ll now know to be sure before buying anything else.

Well it will be just like all the other older models did, have you tried those older code’s to see if it works?

Hu? You brought the Noahlink just because you got free from the NHS, that doesn’t make any sense, most buy and for the cost saving and convenience, your already saving $$, next one’s you could try your local Costco and make the most of DIY.

I bought the noahlink because I got oticon from the NHS but their hearing tests don’t properly define my right ear hearing problems so I thought I might be able to do better using genie 2 and noahlink 2. I did not know that the NHS specific optim model was untouchable without an unlock code that was protected by a non disclosure agreement and genie 2 cannot connect to models of HA not listed amongst the ones it knows. Currently I only use my left HA as that ear has simple age related hearing loss and the NHS Audi can handle that but the HA for my right ear just makes hearing more difficult with all sorts of sensoneural distortion not recognised by the NHS.
Old codes for earlier genie 1 don’t work with genie 2 and don’t define the current NHS oticon optim HAs. Only genie 2 unlock code I’ve found was for oticon engage which was an old NHS specific HA before the oticon optim HAs I tested the oticon engage code that was released some time ago and it caused entries for the oticon engage to appear in the genie 2 list.
My threads been on hear quite a while I’d be astonished to discover someone on here has been sitting here silently waiting for a direct message and refused to answer this thread like a normal person with the requested information!

Believe me you would, as with any other as well, so again it’s not wasting money on the Noahlink wireless, why not just get a “back up” set from eBay on the cheap and program them to your liking, easy enough there.
I did not know that the NHS specific optim model was untouchable without an unlock code
Has been this way for ever from NHS, but one model that didn’t was the Xceed I believe, old tech SP but you don’t post your audogram so hard to tell if suitable.
but the HA for my right ear just makes hearing more difficult with all sorts of sensoneural distortion not recognised by the NHS.
Yeah I “hear” ya, it’s not uncommon for some audiologist clinic’s to just not be able to sort some of these issues out, this is why most projects can be successful here, as only you know how/what your hearing, DIY can be a bit unorthodox at times ; )
Old codes for earlier genie 1 don’t work with genie 2
Yes each platform does seem to change, but code’s for older Genie2 models and not the legacy of yesteryear from Genie I ment.
I’ve found was for oticon engage which was an old NHS specific HA before the oticon optim HAs
Yes that’s one I would of tried, bummer after trying this code it’s no good for the optim..

Well to be fair I can honestly say no one would be deliberately withholding it from you, remember not everyone visits the forum every day, if someone can help they will.
But again I’d go with eBay back up set (used, ex demos etc) at least you won’t have to bother with any codes again!

this threads getting on for a year old… and only ones responding to it have been other people wanting the unlock code too, not including yourself, I figured best to make this thread just in case someone finds out the code and to warn those who just got an Optim from NHS and wants to tinker that it will not be adjustable in genie 2 without the code. And as for investing more money in other that might be adjustable with Genie 2 and noahlink 2… without the Optim unlock code I cannot get a working copy of my prescription from my existing Optim HAs to modify so I could end up completely messing up my DIY attempts with a different model of HAs and could end up damaging my ears further! I’ll wait and see what Jonsnow reports after he’s had a reply.

Sorry what do you mean “might” be, 99% of are not “locked” so it’s actually quite easy to find plenty of models and brands to choose from, if your not sure about any particular models just ask,did you know Phonak models from the NHS the unlock code is actually available as well.

You can easily get get a complete fitting report from your NHS audiologist, so no problem there.
so I could end up completely messing up my DIY attempts with a different model of HAs and could end up damaging my ears further!
Um no, I’m not sure why you believe this when your quite happy to for your right ear with the NHS Optim? No sorry it’s simply not true you could damage your hearing further if you follow the very simple and basic guides to DIY, it does sound like you may not be ready for DIY projects without further research, in all honesty it’s just so very easy to do, remember there’s always a demo/simulation mode in the software (including Oticon Genie2) it’s a good way to understand how the software works in basic terms, I think it’s worth considering if it’s impossible to unlock your Optim’s.
