Hello everyone! I’m new here, having just got my first hearing aids two months ago. I’m currently using the Oticon Jet 1 PP, and I also picked up a ConnectClip for phone calls. Since I have nothing to compare them to, I can’t really judge whether the hearing aids themselves are good or bad.
However, I ran into issues with the ConnectClip almost immediately. Honestly, it feels like a masterclass in terrible design! The clip itself is completely useless—it doesn’t open wide enough to securely attach a fairly heavy device to thick clothing. But if you clip it to a thin T-shirt or a shirt pocket, the fabric sags under the weight, making the ConnectClip hang sideways and look like it’s about to fall off. No matter what you wear, it just looks completely out of place.
That left me with only one option: wearing it on a lanyard. But even that is a flawed solution. The thin loop constantly tries to slip out because the center of gravity is too far from the attachment point, causing the device to hang at an awkward angle.
After almost losing my ConnectClip twice in a single month, I knew I had to find a workaround. Here is what I came up with.
Here is what you will need:
-
Oticon ConnectClip
-
A lanyard (the one included in the box, or any other)
-
A fishing snap swivel (from any tackle shop)
-
A center punch (for marking the hole)
-
A drill or power screwdriver with a 1–1.5 mm drill bit
-
A pair of steady hands (and some basic skills!)
