Costco Rexton Reaches on the fly changes?

I have only had my hearing aids for 2 days. I am still learning about them. They sound good.
I assume they do things on the fly. like adjust for background noise? like when i turn the bathroom fan on for the first few seconds my hearing aid amplifies the vent fan, then something happens and the fan amplification turns off. I can still hear the fan with my real hearing, but it not loud like it was when it first came on. Is that what is happening?

If it is, is there any way to adjust this?

Also sometimes my hearing aids amplify my breathing and sometimes it does not.

Yes, reducing background noise is the way most folks like their hearing aids to work. Yes, your hearing aid fitter can reduce or eliminate it, or you can have multiple programs in your hearing aids. One to reduce or eliminate background noise, and one to keep it.

Go to the section here on this website and get a copy of the programming software, and you will see how many adjustments that can be made to your hearing aids.

If your hearing aids are focusing on something in front of you, then I can see where you might pickup your breathing. Again, you can have multiple programs, where one of them is more omni-directional, which should fix that issue if you find it annoying.

Try another program like Outdoors where it doesnt “steer” and suppress sounds like All Around does. And yes, this can be adjusted by your audi

Yep they sure do, this is easy enough to adjust in your App.

Yes this the noise reduction kicking in, again this can be adjusted in the App, and as mentioned a more detailed/permanent solution is to have this adjusted in the Connexx software, as for your breathing I believe this is something you’ll get used to over time like a lot of the sounds you’ve not noticed before.

Is the hearing aid smart enough to not boost frequencies where I have normal hearing? The bathroom fan has Low frequency growl.

Also my voice is low frequency, can’t I get the hearing aid to not amplify my voice?
We did the Rexton “my voice” thing and that helped but didn’t fix the amplification of my voice.

Yes it can and does, we don’t know what your Audiologist has set up to what degree, but when properly set they won’t be adding any gain to your lower frequences, use a frequency analyzer to check what the exact frequency the fan is using and at what , again your voice isn’t being amplified it just seems that way, especially if you used the Signia (Rexton)Connexx own voice processing (OVP) feature, what domes and receiver are you using?

I feel like my voice is definitely being amplified. I picked the rextons, because when I tested 3 hearing aids at costco, the rextons were the only one that didn’t amplify my voice. then when I bought it and it was set up for me it was amplifying my voice. “Own voice” was run, and in my mind it got 50% better. But still now at certain times it feels like my voice is getting amplified. It feels amplified, when I first put them on, when I go outside and sometimes for no reason while I am inside.

I don’t know the terminology yet, but I think I am using open domes and what ever received that came with the hearing aid.

So just to be sure, go into the Rexton App and use the “sound balance” and see what difference you notice, also do the same for any other program’s.

Your loss wouldn’t require anything under 1Hz as far as I can see, open domes for your high frequency loss would be a little bit out but obviously good for low/mid loss, but again we just don’t know what your Audiologist has done without seeing the fitting report, I still think it’s something you’ll get used to, give it a few weeks, most people need quite a bit of time.
