Eargo hearing aids — worth the price?

Hello:

I have a good friend who wants to buy an Eargo. For me, paying over 2K$ for an is insane when the Costco Rx HAs are available for $1600. But that’s my opinion. I have the same opinion about the Jabra Select OTC.

Before I tell him he is nuts and he should go to Costco (and try the INOX because he wants an “invisible “ HA ). Are there any reasons why the Eargo is a better option (and spend $1K more ) ? He is insisting on getting the Eargo.

He has mild to moderate ski-slope loss .

I had the 7’s for a bit over a year. They are nothing compared to my SoundGear Amps which cost less at Costco. While I did not have any real comfort issues, I do find that ’s are more comfortable. My biggest gripe is that during the year, I had to have them replaced twice during the year warranty period. I cleaned them reqularly, did not get them wet. Customer service was excellent until the sound dropped in one of the aids, just after the 1 year warranty and they would not do anything. They didn’t offer to repair, or offer another one at a discounted or any price for that matter. This is just my experience and others may have had a better experience.
