This is a really interesting study that shows that Phonak’s didn’t negatively impact tonal differentiations important for meaning changes in Mandarin, but also improved perception of these at some (but not all) signal to noise ratios, and didn’t degrade performance at any , making a DNN option a worthwhile consideration for users of tonal languages.
