Hearing aid cost through Humana Gold

It’s probably best to ask the insurance company instead of asking here, unless you’re lucky enough to find a forum member here with the exact same plan this year as you have, who has actually used the plan to purchase hearing aids.

If you’re going to call them, here are the things you want to ask them, if you don’t know already.

1. Is there a co-pay?

2. What is your deductible?

3. What is your individual and family out-of-pocket maximum?

4. Is there any co-insurance for hearing aids, if yes, what is the split?

5. Is there a maximum allowed cost associated with each hearing aid that the provider can bill them?

6. Are you required to find an in-network provider? Can you go also with an out-of-network provider? They probably have different co-insurance ratio for in-network vs out-of-network.

7. Is there a particular managed care provider (like TruHearing or Amplifon for example) who has a contract with your insurance company whom you are required to purchase the hearing aids through them only? Or can you go to any in-network provider even if they don’t sub-contract through that managed care provider?
