On a recent European tour I realized I was unable to hear any an of the guides who used a speaker to communicate to those cheap ear headsets. Cochlear tells me to buy a $300. Mini mic. Give it to tour guide. Can anyone help me resolve my ignorance?

Do the headsets or the guide's transmitter work with 3.5mm audio? If so, there are some options such as from FlooGoo. One would also need a battery that provides USB power.

I am speaking only from my experience at a museum where we have implemented using a very inexpensive HomeSpot Auracast Broadcaster (transmitter). Our wireless mics simply plug into the transmitter. Yes, we have to power the transmitter through a handy USB-C connector. I expect most modern tour vehicles would have a USB port that could be used for the transmitter, or they could use a simple aux battery with a USB.
