70M, retired hermit. My hearing loss was only recently diagnosed, because tinnitus (50 years now) was always blamed for my hearing complaints. This spring I hired a pro engineer to re-track the drums and mix a song I had trouble mixing myself. On hearing what he produced, I asked “where are the cymbals”? The kind young man referred me to the VST plugin Brainworx HEARS Perfection, which after testing my hearing from 100-10kHz, plotted a correction curve for my mixing software that works great! Since I’m in the studio 8 hours a day wearing headphones I don’t need full-time hearing aids. It’s only when I’m with my wife to talk and share meals and watch a little TV that I need hearing aids to hear her. My studio like our home is very quiet and we seldom go out.
So are there any IEM-like hearing aids (In Ear Monitors like musicians use on stage) that can be fit with Comply or SonicFoam style memory foam domes? I don’t want anything that goes into my hearing canals after a painful mishap with . Aside from fear of the domes sticking again, they’re uncomfortable and insertion always triggers a coughing fit.
Thanks in advance! ILBlues
