I’ve a pair of older Widex , complete with receivers, that I’d like to sell. In 2022 there was a problem with one of the battery contact tabs in the right HA, which became deformed. As a result, the right HA stopped working even though the battery was properly inserted. I vaguely remember that my audiologist fixed the issue by opening the HA in front of me and straightening the contact tab. After that, the device started working again. He didn’t charge me for the repair, but he did mention that I had been lucky, because having this type of repair done in the lab would normally be somewhat expensive.
Now I’ve taken them out again. The left HA works perfectly, and I’ve also tested all the receivers with it, so I know they are functioning correctly. The problem is that the right unit still doesn’t power on (receivers are mute), and I’d like to open it to see whether I can straighten the bent battery contact tab, just like that audiologist did in 2022. I’m no longer seeing that audiologist. I don’t think it would make much sense to send the HA to a lab for repair, because the cost would likely cancel out any profit from selling the pair.
Does anyone here know how to open the shell of a Widex RIC HA or, even better, can you recommend any teardown videos online? I’ve searched on YouTube but haven’t been able to find anything useful so far.
