My first post on this forum. I am curious where everyone lives. I am in Tampa, Florida, I lost 20% of my hearing over the years. Speech has been a problem of course. 71 this year and this is my 3rd set of ’s.
My previous pair was Seimens. There were great with the air domes and the tinnitus programmability in the app but I didn’t really feel there was much difference in the settings. The app itself was fun to use and had the usual volume and balance settings.
Okay, so now Lucid. I’m loving these as the app is much better than the Seimens I feel. No tinnitus setting though which doesn’t matter to me now.
It took a bit to go through the app and get a feel for it how best to make use of it all. I especially like the ‘Noise’ setting for restaurants. It’s just perfect and blocks out all the clatter from nearby tables.
One setting that the audiologist told me not to mess with but I did anyway as I am a techno geek, and it proved to be worth doing. It is for setting the levels of frequencies for each HA. I found after going home from the fitting that the hearing levels were not balanced with several frequencies. I was able to easily set them for my preference and am now enjoying my hearing.
I’ve always went with the more expensive models with all the more channels to better hearing. It seems to make sense as it was explained to me.
The audiologist I met with has worked in the quality control department he told me for many years in the Orlando facility and in hearing his scientific explanations of what he did and how Lucid makes these, I feel confident I made a good decision on these. Sorry, long sentence.
I don’t see Lucid being a sponsor here or advertised so I have to believe this little company has a long way to go to be recognized for what I believe is a superior product up and coming. I will follow them closely and post that I find along the way. Happy hearing all!
