I’m back from the hospital for my Oticon trial. He fitted me with Oticon Dynamo SP8 aids and said that model is the best and most advanced they do. He set them in the software to my and, as usual, I could barely hear anything. So what he did was take my Siemens aids what I wore to the hospital and placed them in the Aurical sound test box one at a time and produced a graph of their current volume setting, being the volume that I was used to. He then matched the graph on the Oticons.
Result! I could hear perfectly first time! So muffled sounds I usually get when first going for new aids. No crackly sounds. No vibrato effect. Just pure perfection! So far, I’m happy and loving these aids WAY better than the Phonak Nathos Auto UP aids. Obviously, I’m still trialing these aids, for the next six weeks anyway when I will go back to tell how I got on and for any further adjustments, if any. I’ve discovered the volume levels on the Tcoil programs are not as loud so they’ll need adjusting but I’ll manage for now. The only thing I’m not keen on are the volume wheels - very stiff and very little control but hey! I can’t have everything I guess. The most important thing is to be happy with the volume and tonal quality of the sounds.
They are the smallest aids I’ve ever had in my life, taking size 13 batteries which I’ve never used before. I’m pleased with that too.
I would love to be able to have control of the settings myself like I’ve had with my Siemens and Phonaks just recently. However, I noticed that the cables plugged into an audio shoe that fitted onto the bottom of the Oticons. I have the HiPro. I have the cables. I have the Genie Software. Anyone know where I can purchase the programming shoes from? If anyone have any for sale, please do let me know. I’ve tried fleabay but nothing comes up, unless I’m not typing their correct name. Any help would be appreciated.
