Are you able to reasonably hear people over background music and loud talking? Like say a vinyl bar?
Yes, I am. I’ve been wearing the Intents for about 18 months and have had no issues in noisy or otherwise challenging environments.
The advice as always on this forum is to trial the aids, with a competent audiologist, and with real ear measurements performed if possible.
This is so important and often overlooked. The Intents work very well for me, but that doesn’t mean they will work well for someone else. I have otosclerosis, had a stapedectomy on my right ear in 2000, and I have a 100% word recognition score in both ears.
I approach my hearing loss as if I were two different people. My left ear loss is mostly conductive, while my right ear has a mixed loss and a gold prosthesis replacing the stapes. The left ear mostly just needs a clean boost; the right ear is much more finicky and cannot tolerate loud sounds well because of distortion.
I’m sure the Spheres would be great for my right ear, but the aggressive noise reduction and constant program switching would not work as well for my left ear. My point is that if a single person already requires two very different solutions, it becomes clear how unrealistic a one-size-fits-all approach is across a broader population.
