I would really like to have at least a 10 band equalizer (+soft, medium and loud) in an app so that I could experiment with different settings in challenging environments without connecting the to a laptop (which is what I do today)
I self-program my aids and I don’t see how it could be possible to achieve my current results with an audiologist alone. I use a professional fitting with as my baseline and tweak that with the assistance of my audiologist.
What you’re wishing for is almost the entire detailed fine tuning capability that’s in the programming software onto a mobile app with wireless interfacing to your . I think all ’ers probably wish for the same thing (myself included), but realistically speaking, I seriously doubt any HA mfgs would want to give that detailed level of control directly to end users because there’d be a high probably that without an controlling aspect, most people won’t know what they’re doing and will end up messing up their settings more than helping it.
DIY’ers (who hopefully know what they’re doing) taking the risk of hacking it themselves so they can do what the HCP does is one thing, because they won’t get support from HA mfgs for this. But giving this degree of capability officially via an app wirelessly to end users simply is a bad idea because HA mfgs won’t want to have to provide this level of support directly to end users if/when they mess things up.
So that’s why any kind of fine tuning control HA mfgs would give to end users through an app would usually be a very rudimentary/idiot proof/easy-to-revert kind of thing to lessen the chance of things going wrong.
