Oticon TV Adapter 3.0 and lights

I just got the Oticon TV Adapter and the ConnectClip.

  1. It seems to work awesomely with my TCL Roku tv. I'm using the TOSLink option but I noticed that the right blue is solid (correct) but the light seems so light/faded. I know the blue can go brighter than that- saw that when I was pairing my hearing aids. It still worked perfectly tho so I guess I shouldn't worry? The RCA cords + adapter did work but it went from a solid green to a blinking green even though I was still getting audio to hearing aids (I think- the volume on the tv itself says 1 but loud in my aids..whooo).

    Should I worry? As of now I can't return it anyway. (great price though)

  2. ConnectClip is giving me fits- it seems to work on my android- still testing. But it's awful with my laptop. I can connect to it fine (amazingly) the sound is getting through fine sounds like but it is also coming through my speakers- which I don't want); oddly it's fine if I leave my DAI cord plugged into headphone jack... Oh yes... the price for this tiny thing was abominable. :eyes:

So still experimenting/playing around with it for now.

As for phone- leaning towards the iPhone 17e to replace the android (no more system updates etc :( ). Never had an iPhone but have had other products in the past.

The ConnectClip can be troublesome - I've had one since they made them available for the OPN aids. Back then, many bluetooth implementations in computers were buggy and the clip wouldn't pair or connect reliably so Oticon provided a dongle that is basically a USB sound card with Bluetooth output with my clip. I needed that with various computers at work. One would hope that buggy bluetooth/driver(s) is not the case with your laptop. As you didn't specify the OS of your laptop, I'll assume Windows. Are you selecting the ConnectClip (or whatever your laptop OS calls it) as the audio output device rather than the speakers?

I just paired my clip to my old work Intel CPU MacBook Pro - in Windows 10 Enterprise it shows up in the list of Audio devices as "Headphones (ConnectClip 1.1 Stereo)". If I select that when it is connected to my current Real 1 aids, sound goes to my aids and the sound previously going to the speakers is muted. If I then select "Speakers (Apple Audio Device)", the sound goes to the speakers only instead of to the ConnectClip and on to the aids. I'm not sure what is happening with your laptop but typically with computers, if a plug is inserted into the headphone jack, the internal computer speakers are muted so that might explain why leaving the cord in place mutes your laptop speakers.

With my home computer (Apple iMac with Intel CPU), I use a TV Connector to stream sound to my aids. That does mean that I have to select the computer microphone as the input for things like Zoom or Teams. The TV connector has much lower latency as there is no intermediate Bluetooth connection (computer to ConnectClip) in the signal chain.

Yes Windows 11, HP laptop got it in 2024 but not sure how old the laptop actually is.

It seems I have to reconnect the CC every time (just looked in settings - it's not connected) because the CC turns off when not in use thus breaking the link- this I'm not sure on will pay attention next time. I don't know if phone Bluetooth connected to my hearing aids and the connectclip interferes or not- haven't tried using the phone yet (I don't like doing phone calls in general...)-

So this tells me that if I have the ConnectClip running on the laptop, I cannot have the bluetooth on on my Phone. Thankfully the CC and TV adapter do not interfere with each other near as I can tell.

I was able to connect the CC (and figure out the various color lights) it worked very well with my hearing aids (Oticon XCeed Play UP). Had fun discovering I can mute the hearing aids from other sounds and just hear from the CC.

Ah- in settings on laptop the ConnectClip is listed under Bluetoooth & Devices>Audio and will show "Connecting.... well that didn't work...." or "Connected". see next paragraph as to why lol

Edit- So it appears if I want to stream from the laptop, have to turn off Bluetooth on my phone, otherwise I get my music player suddenly starting and blasting uh streaming music to my hearing aids.(and I think it's a different song that what the album cover shows!)

*Also got the email to Oticon's support from the seller as I asked them first lol so will be contacting Oticon just to see what they'll say about the faint blue on tv adapter.
