Hi, I have the Phonak H. Aids and my old Sigina H. Aids. The Phonak are better for speech, but the Signias sound better for the high frequencies. I noticed that they have higher gain in the fittings for high frequency. I tried to increase the high frequency for the Phonaks, but I can’t, and they seem to be stuck at the actual high frequencies 4 5 6 Htz, Is there a way to unblock this high frequency gain?
Thanks
Short answer: Not with your current settings.
Question: what receivers/domes are you using ?
Phonak Chart: The line separating the grey zone from the white zone is the line (maximum power), which represents the maximum gain the receiver can achieve. The purple line is your feedback curve, showing the maximum gain the receiver can provide without causing feedback. It’s crucial to stay below the purple curve. Additionally, SoundRecover2 (frequency shifting) is active, lowering all sounds above 2K to 2K. From this chart, it seems you need a more powerful receiver and more occluded domes.
Signia Chart: It seems the Signia has more occluded domes and a stronger receiver. The frequency shifting is also enabled, but it’s set at 4K rather than 2K.
If you want to enhance the high frequencies (Phonak), you can turn off SoundRecover, as @tenkan said but this might not be very effective as the purple and grey lines will still impose limitations.
Thank you for the explanation about all those color lines and your
suggestions, I am using P receivers or speakers and I ordered UP
Receivers, so with the receivers I have now I can’t get more gain on the
5, 6, 7 Hz. My domes have a vent of around 1mm. I’m going to turn off the
sound recover, and I will let you know when I get the Power UP receivers.
So could you post your audogram, because P receiver would easily cover the required gain in those screenshots, so UP shouldn’t be required, reading the user guides will give you a bit insight on what you should be doing and how to go about it, and re doing the feedback thresholds would lift “the lines” up to where you should be, you could change over to NAL formula to get a boost in the higher frequency as well, if you haven’t already, cheers
The P receivers can probably do it, but I have read and was suggested that
the UP are more powerful and give better quality of sound, maybe because they
can handle loud sounds better, I want to test this. Here’s my , and I’m going to read the user’s guide, drop the sound recover and increase the feedback line limits to see If I can hear the s with the Phonaks as good as I can hear them with the signias.
