Phonak EON Spheres and the VA

I received a pair of Infinio Sphere Ultra aids from the this summer. Not too long after they were adjusted and set up to my liking Phonak announced the EON model. I just noticed that my trial period with the Infinio Sphere Ultra aids ends on 11/8/2026 so I still have a few weeks left on the trial. Does the VA still update the contracts in November? If they do it might be advantageous for me to turn these in and wait for the EON's. I have a backup pair of aids. According to the Phonak website the EONS are not shown as available at this time to Veterans.

They are available, and some members of this forum are already using them. (Unless you meant "available at the ," which I'm not sure about.)

According to my audiologist they should be available after the first of November with the new contract. The contracts are renewed the first of May and the first of November each year. I have been getting my aids from the VA for 20+years.

New hearing aid models have to go through a government procurement process, so the Eons won’t be available until next year, according to my husband’s audiologist.

My audiologist has been correct in the past. And he has said they should be available November first on the new contract, but it could be a month later before the first of them get to veterans. He is the director of VA audiology in my state. And also a professor of audiology for the Medical School at the University of Arkansas.

My Audiologist stated that new hearing aids must be on the market for at least 90 days before being available for prescription. The reason is for the manufacturer to work out the bugs before they are available to the VA to issue. That would mean with the recent announcement of the EON Spheres, they would be available in the May 2027 contract.

Can it happen that they might be available in the November 2026 procurement cycle? Sure. Stranger things have happened and the VA is trying to improve processes.

I'm excited about the Roger On with Sphere. I have a V3 from the VA, but my last one lasted about a year before the power switch wouldn't work anymore. The VA swapped it out. This current one is about a year old and they haven't changed the switch design, so it could run into the same issue of the switch not working. Here's to hoping it makes it until May!

The Eons may have been issued too recently to get approved at the November contract date. If so it will be after the May contract date before the Eon is approved and available. That’s why my husband went ahead and got the Infinios 2 months ago.

But I hope CV Kemp is right! Would it be possible to trade in the Infinio Spheres for the Eons?

Only hitch might be if the is unsure about some aspect. When infinio came out, the spheres weren’t available on the first contract cycle. I went in hoping to get them, as I was due for new , but I had to wait until the next may to get my spheres. I’d say the odds they’ll be available are good, but …

I should note the plain infinios were available. My recollection is they came out about the same amount of time before nov both times.
