Phonak LEaids and Bluetooth connection on airplane

I’ll be flying soon and would like to connect my audio 90 r hearing aids to the video screen on the airplane. I tried some mechanisms but they didn’t work as I have low energy Bluetooth and they only work on regular bluetooth. are there any products that work with low energy to connect to the Ife / video screen on an airplane? very good

If you want a future-proof solution that works with classic Bluetooth as well as and can do , then look for the Avantree Voyager.

It also has a display which is useful on an airplane because there likely lots of Bluetooth devices around you and the display lets you know what you are connected to.

I used the Avantree on a recent flight and can confirm that it works with Phonak as well as in Auracast mode with Jabra EP20s.

There are plenty other less feature-rich Bluetooth transmitters available as well. I recommend picking one with a display.

Phonak Audeos (not audios) use Bluetooth Classic instead of Bluetooth LE (Low Energy) for connecting to other devices. This means you don’t need any special setup to pair them with standard Bluetooth devices—just connect them as you would with regular headsets. That’s one big advantage of Phonak hearing aids.
If you’re having trouble connecting, the issue isn’t with Bluetooth LE since Phonak doesn’t use it for connections.
Now, I don’t know if the airplane screen has bluetooth. If it doesn’t, @wtolkien recommendation is good (bluetooth transmitter)

Also, you will only need to pair one of the hearing aids to get audio to your audeos. Your phone Bluetooth config screen will likely show the names of the pairings for your hearing aids. Ignore the LE ones for this, the third one will tell you “L” or “R” and that’s the one to reset to pair with the screen. Turn it off and then you have about two minutes to pair with the screen.

I am more than tad confused. on my phone, it did have 3 listings, two with LE, one without. I assumed the LE is for low energy. I had an airfly device that did not work and then i read that it doens’t work with LE, or any that need to be programmed or paired with the phone app. SO, how do i pair my HAs with the Aavantree? Thanks for all your help!!

The LEs connections you are seeing are used to connect the aids to the app/phone for device management . The third one is a Bluetooth classic connection that is the one that Phonak uses for streaming and connecting to other devices that have Bluetooth .

Phonak does not use LE for audio .

thank you. do you know why i couldn’t get them to pair with airfly? i also about Avantree Relay but didn’t open it. do you think that would work or i would get the airfly to work? i would rather not buy another device.

Did you both restart the classic master aid and press the power button on the airfly until the LED flashes? The BT master hearing aid is usually the right one, but it can be configured to be your left. That is why I told you to look in the Bluetooth configuration screen in your phone. The aid with two pairings is the one you need to restart to put it in pairing mode.

My brother got it to work, the Relay (not the more expensive AirFly Pro; I tried both). Watched 6 hours of TV while at 35,000 feet and it was terrific. Thank you all who said it could be done!!!
