In that scenario what would be the procedure?? HOPEFULLY repairs beyond the warranty period can be done? In my case I had Phonak Lumity 90s that i bought online and had remote programming. i was less than impressed prior to the battery dying and VERY DISAPPOINTED afterward and I would not recommend them to anyone. BTW i only chose the remote route because doing without definitely sucks AND I basically had no other options financially.
The sellers/remote programmers let me down when a battery on left aid died right before Christmas. They were still under warranty but the seller was very slow apparently (dragging their feet) no empathy for being without H. A. s for Christmas holiday.
They also told me i would have to send BOTH in for repair even though one battery was still recharging and working properly.
WHICH I discovered turned out not to be the case when I drove to an audiologist 60 miles away. He said only the defective one neede to be sent and he wasted no time mailing it to Phonak.
He said he could mail them to me or I could come pick up the next day which I did because I wanted him check for adjustments that might be needed.
So I paid him for two office visits and both are working properly. I was grateful for his swift action in getting battery replaced and told him so. I never returned to remote programmer or called them out for how SLOW they were AND for the wring info about needing to send both in to Phonak.
The experience has caused me to look to need for repair in the future.
Im wondering what I can expect Phonak to do if repairs out of warranty are needed? Will they pressure me to buy new pair or will they repair and return to me. Im pretty sure they will not do so free of charge.
I’d like to know what to expect from Phonak or any other manufacturer. Knowledge is a good thing especially if proactive imo.
Would appreciate hearing from others in similar circumstances. Was repair possible and if so was it at reasonable rate. Did results vary among brands.
I am one step above deaf without and I hope to learn from your experiences to AVOID if at all possible being left to flounder during whatever time it took to get HAs back and hearing again.
Thanks for sharing your experiencs.
