Amplifon is the largest hearing care provider that isn't owned by a manufacturer in the world. They purchase rebadged devices from Sonova so that price comparisons with other clinics isn't as easy. These are listed in the FCC filing as equivalent models so that they don't need a separate regulatory listing. Amplifon are a customer of Sonova like any other business but with much larger volumes. It is a good thing that there is choice.

I haven’t had much dealings with Amplifon for many years, they might have changed, but back then, they came across as dodgy used car salesmen, first impressions usually last, so I never went back…Cheers Kev 😉

Amplifon owns clinics all over the world and not all of them are Amplifon-branded so your experience may vary depending on how the local business is run. We don't have amplifon-branded clinics where I am, but the parent company is still the same and some of them still sell amplifon-branded devices.

Sounds like is a available. is unknown at the moment. Unlikely to be Auracast only. This press release also does not say: https://www.sonova.com/new-eon-hearing-aid-portfolio-strengthens-phonaks-leadership-in-speech-understanding-scene-intelligence-and-made-for-all-connectivity/5

MyPhonak app update is available to add Auracast and QR code scanning. We might not be able to test anything as the new aids are not out in the wild yet.

Exactly, I mean you can't have one without the other, is part of the framework, Sonova say this, so obviously their gonna make an announcement about this sooner than later.

That media release contained a lot of useful information. I've updated the first post, but some of the highlights are:

  • EON is 25% smaller and 20% lighter than the previous Sphere generation, while offering up to 38 hours of battery life.
  • EON also introduces WindBlock 2.0, which automatically reduces wind noise by up to 50 and can improve the signal-to-noise ratio by up to 30 dB.
  • Available in eight colour options
  • EON comes with two new charging solutions, including a portable charger with an integrated battery for added flexibility on the go.

Interestingly, the E50 Sphere doesn't include "stereozoom 2.0", but does include "spheric speech clarity 3.0." This is a bit of shame as Signia offers its beamformer across all tech levels (at different strengths/sophistication levels).

They will probably release an update after the bugs have been worked out with the new Eon products.

Yeah so this is how they can still make the claim "made for all" but to me anyway it makes absolutely no sense to stream with classic, phone calls it's only mono, but streaming is a power hog and LEA is the way forward for this (someone tell Sonova!)

If you had the option of 1) trialing a new technology with a small installed user base to iron out the kinks and then roll it out to a large installed userbase or 2) push it out to a large installed userbase and let their audiologists deal with a much larger problem what would you do?

I'd pick the solution that causes the least hassle to the most people.

Windblock 2.0 seems to be massive upgrade for speech understanding in wind. I hope this makes it through to the next gen of processors. This will benefit almost every device user.

Speech signal without windSpeech signal with windWith wind and windblock 1.0With wind and windblock 2.0You can see from the spectrograms that windblock 2.0 is preserving way more speech cues below 1kHz while also suppressing more wind noise than windblock 1.0 which is effective at reducing wind noise below 1 kHz but not preserving speech cues.

i checked the Audeo E50 Sphere and Audeo E70 Sphere in Target 12.

For E50 Sphere no AutoSense automatic programm for "Spheric Speech in loud noise". The Spheric is only available a seperate manual programm, and the max. setting for "Spheric Speech Clarity" only available at middle strength. (#4) , E50 lacks of "Speech Sensor" and "Speech Enhancer"

For E70 Sphere the "Spheric Speech in loud noise" is avail. in AutoSense automatic programm, and the max. setting for "Spheric Speech Clarity" avail. at strength 5 (one step over E50) , E70 includes "Speech Sensor" but missing "Speech Enhancer"

E90 Sphere includes all , and the max. setting for "Spheric Speech Clarity" avail. at maximal strength 10
