I reset absolutely everything. Turned off the hearing aids, Forgot them on the App, Forgot them on the phone, Removed the App, Reset the TV Connector v2, Performed a hard reset of the iPhone. They appeared to work for about a day and then, yet again, I lost bluetooth connection on the right hearing aid. I spoke with my audiologist, who’s really good and professional, and after he hassled Phonak they are doing a replacement. I’ll let you know how it goes get on in about a week!!
I recently upgraded to the Spheres after using Phonak Audeo L70s for a few years. The previous ones were unusable outside. I mostly listen to a podcast or Sirius XM show in the morning when walking my dog in our suburban SoCal neighborhood. The L70s had so much signal interruption from either not having enough hard surface to bounce off of, or WiFi interference. I was never able to determine which was the culprit. The Spheres are vastly better, with relatively little drop-ff. But I have had a couple of weird instances where the simply stopped working with my iPhone, even though the BlueTooth settings said they were still connected. The phone just starts playing whatever I am listening to through the phone’s speaker. Also, the phone will just simply stop connecting to the HAs. In both cases, the only fix is either a hard restart of the HAs, or the forget/reconnect routine. I have only had them for about 6 weeks, so let’s hope this is not a frequent pattern!
I got the Phonak Audio Sphere Infinio last month. After one week I returned them since they would not maintain a connection with my iPhone 17. Just assumed I got faulty hearing aids. Got the new pair 5 days ago, and the exact same problem. I have followed all the steps – Forget This Device in Bluetooth, deleting MyPhonak app, closing everything down, rebooting, re-pairing, etc. The connections hold for about one minute then are gone. Beyond frustrating. If this cannot be fixed, I will take them back, also.
you can’t use TV Connector and Bluetooth e.g. from phone simultaneously.
While connected (P70’s) to the TV link and my phone sends me a notification, the Ha’s switch to the phone so I hear the notification, then after a few seconds it switches back to the TV link, never had any problems there.
UPDATE – I fixed the problem! Prior to returning the bad pair of hearing aids, I had paired them to my iPhone and iPad. When I got the new ones, I also paired them to both devices. But, on the iPad, I neglected to remove the old hearing aids by selecting “Forget this device”. Even though my iPad was in sleep mode and not connected to Bluetooth, the settings for the old devices and the iPad were somehow not allowing the new hearing aids to stay connected to my iPhone. After “Forgetting” the old hearing aids, the new ones immediately connected and have stayed that way for 5 days now.
My Phonak Sphere Infinio hearing aids were a nightmare so far as bluetooth was concerned, with my supplier tried all sorts and even had them sent back for examination and repair BUT the the free Ultra software came out and appear to have fixed all the issues in one fell swoop.
I’m on my FOURTH trial pair. The first three had physical receiver connection issues. So far, #4 does not exhibit the same flaw. One thing that HASN’T gone away is the wonky blue tooth connectivity issues. When I can’t establish a connection (which is frequent) I end up having to go through a litany of procedures to get a connection. These include: Restarting the aids (often multiple times), deleting and re-downloading the app, restarting a device i’m trying to connect to (ie. my iPad), deleting all the previously-visited sites the phone stores in the background. Sometimes ‘forgetting’ my current aids and go through the re-install procedure. My first aids were Phonak P90’s, which I used for about three years. They had FAR fewer Blue Tooth issues, and still perform well. The new Spheres have far better sound quality IMO, which is why I’m trying to stay with them, but the connectivity issues are driving me nuts. It’s a constant battle. With two chips (and the annoying larger physical size) and supposedly a more advanced , I was expecting better.
I feel your pain! I’ve had the I90 Spheres since Jan, 2025 and have tried everything you mention multiple times. So far what works for me is turning off Bluetooth altogether - off from car, off from my IPad and then off from the actual myPhonak app. So I am basically using ‘dumb mode’. I use the rocker panel for volume and changing modes. Pretty pathetic considering the cost! My Audi has been very patient but just can’t identify the problem.
Good luck.
I guess this thread started over a year ago, but I just found it on FB, then linked here thanks folks. So here’s my experience, basically all the same Bluetooth issues – in my case with Lumity on Android.
Notwithstanding the post or two in this thread that argue the Phonak Bluetooth instability is an ios issue, my personal conclusion after 2.5 years with Phonak Audeo L90-RT’s with Samsung/Android OS, I can only draw the conclusion that Phonak+Bluetooth=BigProblems. The basis for that opinion follows.
I’ve had all the reported Bluetooth instabilities documented in this thread on my version of Phonak aids, and I’ve reported all of it to my all along, starting two weeks after delivery (March 2024) and all occurring in any location (any room in my home, also the car, office, under a cell tower, whatever) initially on a Samsung (android) S7, then for the past year on a Samsung A52. And who knows how many Android updates and Phonak firmware updates occurred over that span of 2.5 years. My HCP likes to say “well, we have seen some issues on Samsung phones…etc”. Among attempted remedies, she tried switching control from right to left, in a next visit tried changing from “fixed” bandwidth to “adaptive”, switched back on next visit, plus resets, unpairs, re-pair, you name it and, along the way I’m sure, firmware updates. I speculate that was all just nonsense to work me well past the 45 day refund window.
Symptoms tend to be threefold, at least for me. Initially back in 2024 almost every call would turn to static mush within a few minutes of an active phone call, sometimes almost immediately. Somewhere along the way, the symptom morphed into the calls all being dropped, usually within a minute or two of getting on the call. Lately, the calls still predictably drop but it got worse because the app now seldom connects. Call issues are not due to cell service, because 95% of my calls continue flawlessly if I disconnect the hearing aids from the call. Streaming audio of any source works fine, it’s phone calls that are completely impossible.
For the first year, my ’s were never paired with anything besides the phone. For the past 18 months I also have them paired with an ipad mini.
As far as the solution to the app not connecting, the advice is to cradle rechargeables (like mine) to shut them off, then un-cradle and try the app again, perhaps reboot the phone too. That works but only sometimes. In any case that ‘solution’ is not possible during a meeting or in a restaurant, etc. So it’s not possible to change profiles on the go, and my HCP says there is no way for users to change which profile is set as default, that can only be done in her office, so I’m told.
The only plausible explanation and saving grace I can think of to explain users who claim success is that perhaps Phonak has a very common manufacturing / intermittent quality issue, and thereby some of the hearing aids actually work for these key advertised Bluetooth features. Unless of course those ‘success’ posts are from Phonak employees. That would be sad for sure.
Some say this is a critical medical issue, and I agree, but it’s more than that. Aside from the obvious annoyance, the issues can lead to a dangerous distracted driving scenario. If I take an important call in my car, say for example my doctor returning an important phone call, I have to fumble for my phone to disconnect the aids from the call (or else lose the call). One might wonder how many accidents started with such a scenario.
I truly appreciate all the effort Matthew and others have invested to work with engineers in order to find root cause and solutions – to all our benefit. I know very well the challenges involved in designing and testing complex systems. The design, integration and long term systems testing in all environments and including RF and magnetic emissions and susceptibility testing is no small task. But the task is on the manufacturer – to be solved before they market multi-thousand-dollar devices that don’t work.
I have some follow-ups to do…. I’ll soon run additional tests with other Bluetooth headsets and my wife’s iphone15,
In summary, they know about the issues, the issues span a least a few Phonak models and various firmware versions, the issues span multiple phone models of android and ios phones (possibly others), and all versions of those operating systems for years, so I can only conclude that Phonak+Bluetooth=BigProblems.
Given these experiences, I would be very hesitant to believe the hype about newer models having “ that improves ” – speech in noisy - situations. Fool me once. I think SIN issues are a limitation of the human brain, especially as it ages. The manufacturer can add a dozen microphones and programming, but in a noisy room among multiple voices no AI can know which one I need to listen to.
If they agree to replace mine and the issues subside, I’ll tentatively conclude they simply have a manufacturing issue and if that’s the case, so very sad they put us through all this to get replacements.
I have a pair of Phonak Paradise P90s and a pair of Lumity L90s. I had a Samsung S21 phone that I upgraded to an S26 Ultra a few months ago. No issues with bluetooth with either pair of with my old phone or my new one. Rock solid in connection and performance.
I also use both pairs of HAs for an old Samsung tablet that I use for watching TV in bed. Performance is rock solid. Occasionally connecting can be a little slow. I also connect to a TCL TV in my worskhop with bluetooth. About half the time, I do have to cycle off/on on my right HA for it to be able to connect. But, don’t find it a big deal to have to do.
My wife also has a Lumity L90s. She has no problem connecting to her iPhone 16e or her 5-year old iPad Air.
I will discard my P90s when the rechargeable batteries die (first set were replaced under warranty). I will then just use my Lumity L90s and be looking hard at upgrading to Phonak’s next generation past the Infinio when they are released. My Lumity L90s use 312 batteries so I’m trying not to use these much and keep them for a backup pair for years to come.
I have a pair of Phonak Paradise P90s and a pair of Lumity L90s. I had a Samsung S21
I also have the Paradise, but the P70, no issues with S20fe or my wife S21fe, or with my laptop Asus Vivobook or the older one from 12 years ago. Actually 3 years ago I tried Resounds and the 2.5 sec delay in streaming sound to my Ha’s made me go for Phonak’s, that delay made it impossible to hear any notification from my phone, and I get many during the day. It was a no brainer.
One of the reasons I purchased Phonak Infinio Spheres was Phonak’s use of standard Bluetooth which meant that my (ageing, Android) Motorola Edge 20 Pro would connect to allow phone calls etc to be heard via the aids. The connection between the aids and the phone were solid up until Phonak provided an update to the MyPhonak app which made a change to the pairing process. Since then connectivity has suffered. Just my twopenn’orth. Soon to get a Pixel 10 Pro and see how that goes.
My Edge 40 worked well with app & streaming until the upgrade to Infio aids. Now the APP will not connect but I still have good streaming and calls to the phone. From looking at Phonaks compatibility list only Apple, Samsung (whose OS I detest) and Pixel are largely OK with the app.
Based on my low phone needs (I have a hand tremor so do all but basic phone work on my desktop) Apple & Pixel are way too expensive and my Motorola Edge is still totally adequate. If I was to replace I would prefer something in the Xiaomi range as being good quality and affordable.
1) Dictation: With iPhone sound input set to iPhone and not hearing aid, it seems to actually do that, but the environment is still muted and is a safety hazard.
A sidewalk walk next to a road is eerily silent if I perform speech-to-text.
2) Stopping bluetooth streaming (to hear someone speaking to me), via a [Pause], or for some apps, like 'Listen to page' in Safari and others, you can put the phone to sleep with the side button.
HOWEVER, either method, there is an 11- second delay until the resume amplifying ambient sounds.
That delay can, (oddly), be reduced some if you very quickly put the phone to sleep after you pause Audible. By doing this I can get the delay down to 7 seconds or so.
Still a stupid delay that is not present in other HAs.
Their behavior is essentially an insult to anyone speaking to me; the delay is unacceptable.
3) A way to immediately return ambient sounds after streaming is via turning off Bluetooth.
I have a shortcut to toggle it off/on.
BUT, Phonak still messes this up.
The HAs have a variable delay for streaming resumption that is indeterminable.
A) I can do its work and manually reconnect the HAs to bluetooth, BUT this DOES NOT resume streaming, from Audible or a speaking web page.
B) I can wait for some number of minutes for it to finally decide it can stream from the phone.

Do you have any additional info since you posted this?
I just purchased mine last month, and I'm still in the keep or return window.
Firmware: 1.1.11.0
Had loads of problems with bluetooth conectivity for the first 10-12 months then I had the free Ultra software update and I have had no noticable problems.
