For the first time since i got my new Phonak Sphere hearing aids and a Roger On version 3 I had a chance to test my hearing aids at a party and family dinner at a noisy restaurant to celebrate my granddaughter graduation. So far (2 weeks) the hearing aids are wonderful. My audiologist ordered me very comfortable silicon ear pieces. At the party with 45+ guests inside a large home the hearing aids without using the Roger On was terrific. The noise was modified and I could hear well in conservations. The next evening we went to the restaurant. It is not the most noisy one I know but was tight with diners and a low ceiling. Our table was rectangular wth four on each side. I sat in the middle with a wall behind me. Actually I could hear fairly well but needed a boost to hear the farthest away. The Roger On brought everyone’s voice except the woman sitting next to me. She is my wonderful daughter-in-law, who often expresses concern about my hearing. I heard all others but somehow she with a fairly loud woman’s voice was not coming to me via the hearing aids with Roger On. Usually I have no problem hearing her. At that dinner she and I tried a few “solutions” including turn Roger On off, turning it back on in both the everyone setting and the individual pointed setting. Neither worked well. It was the situation in which I guess we all share of our hearing some words from another person but not all. My question is this, is there a type of a human voice, that may be less clear than others for hearing aid wearers? .
