Currently using Signia Motion C&G SP 5x for since 2022 July, as I have attached on my profile but 125 hz is 65 (in the forum doesn't list 125 hz) while my right ear is deaf. Since child that I could not understand how it is louder or quieter, that was usually 85-100 dB (bone conduction remain same as today) until now I have decided to raise hand after first hearing the quieter, I could say it is low to middle profound hearing loss.
I've grew up in my life since birth it was more complicated listening around speech and environment despite inaccuracy older audiogram previously. (Widex Senso P37, P7 -> C18 -> Menu ME-SP until now). Mainly my issue is speech charity with male voice, and fast speech eg. TV news that I could not follow it.
I have been trialing Phonak Naida Paradise UP70 that I can hear everything better expect one I didn't like artificial sounds, I returned to Clinic after one week, eventually she recommends Bernafon store (She's ear specialist and audiologist).
I went to the Bernafon HA store and have measured audiogram and tested word recognition "two digits" quiet speech at 95 dB that I didn't have an issue understanding after listening her ( not recorded). They were setting up a Bernafon Leox 3 UP trial and adjusted to the highest frequency that I could hear around them there was bit loud at initial thought, that I would have to get used it. As soon I was about to leave store that It was very painful eardrum how loud was after opened the door. I've dialed down to minus 5 on the app that's the lowest I can down (forgot to ask them to adjust, that was too late for now). That I could hear fridge compressor than before that I didn't know from previous HAs SP variant. After 2 weeks I returned it as I wished to have offered rechargeable version HA's UP. They said can wait 1 or 2 year until new HA UP product comes out, it is unpredictable time.
Couple weeks later... There's only one left HA manufacturer to try out, the Resound. I had to take appointment Resound Enzo IA DEMO (metal hook) for 4 weeks, she (audiologist) was perfectly adjusted according to my clinic's audiogram from 4 months ago. After wearing HA trial, that I was bit more comfortable than Bernafon, just ~5 dB difference margin error. I've looked at the Resound's application audiogram (Audiologist computer) there was still ~15 dB headroom available. Despite the Resound Smart 3D was unstable where it would hangs up in during app boot, glitch after change language and unresponsive after long suspended application too, both were only solution to reboot on the Samsung Galaxy S21 (Android 15) phone, Otherwise I would love to continue use it.
I've spoke call from Widex/Signia store to ask retune frequency as they said "there's not much room left to raise decibels on universal program but it can go higher room on TV and outdoor sport programs, try out." (Not sure why software or hardware limitation?) I'll get appointment in later time.
As I was pondering while browsing technical sheet HAs, that I think about Oticon Intent and Verit (hook versions) 105db receivers are not powerful enough to short reach "loud speech" for profound loss ranges.
I can see why Oticon/Bernafon has not updated for Xceed/Leox model that's about 4 generations ago and not having a rechargeable version too. So that's pretty much I can hear everything on Phonak Naida Paradise UP70, Bernafon Leox UP and Resound Enzo IA. As about the sound quality I couldn't tell difference both Bernafon and Resound but it is much better speech charity than Widex/Signia.
I've not yet planned to try out the newest Phonak HAs.
Have I planned for ? No, I don't think I will, just I was concerned with comfort wear.
I tried both silicon and semi-hardened custom mold and tube, I didn't like silicon tube it rubbed against my ear and caused pain. Well, not sure where I'd go for now. Please advice.
