Receiver wire breaking?

I have had the same problem with my Phonak . I usually get about one year each before they break. I am very careful when inserting and removing the HAs! My audi replaces them for about $125 each. I have found them online for about $80 and do the replacement myself.
My audi says that Phonak is aware of the problem but doesn’t do anything to fix the problem.
My current HAs are three years old. I am strongly considering replacing the Phonaks with Widex. (The musicians choice and I like to play guitar and harmonica.) :wink:

What a lousy situation!

If you’re going to be away from home and your audiologist, I’d suggest carrying a spare receiver for each side, along with whatever domes you can make work for you on a temporary basis.

eBay. Unless you have the UP/SP type receivers that are built permanently into a mold. They aren’t difficult to change for the most part. There are good YouTube tutorials that show how.

You have my empathy! If it’s any comfort, I’ve busted the speaker/wire unit on my 312 battery Lumity Life L90s twice now. Thing is, I have a squishy power dome on the end, and have to push the speakers into my ear canal allllllllll day long - like pushing glasses up one’s nose?

I just had my audi replace the speaker/wire unit on Friday. She needed a SPECIAL PIN to RELEASE the old (broken) unit from the “bean” that goes behind the ear - so be forewarned! You may not be able to just yank the old speaker/wire unit off that bean without releasing it first.

I don’t know if you can just snap the new replacement unit into place without the pin? Perhaps an audi on the board here can comment.

If you absolutely have to do this on your own, be sure you have one of those magnification lights like THIS to better see what’s going on!

All the Sonova receivers up to the 5 version needed a release pin or a pin to release the lock.

The v6 is a push fit as far as I’m aware.

I think fit & slim were the same, friction retention without the pin to hold it in.

Pretty sure that any custom mold now made by Phonak (at least for Infinio) have built in receivers. That was the case for a medium receiver when I trialed an Infinio Sphere a while back. Makes either a receiver replacement or a new mold a pricy endeavor if it’s not part of audiologists typical service. (In my case there was a guarantee)

My 2 pairs of Phonak Lumity Life 312 L-90s definitely needed that pin to release the speaker + wire unit. I sat across from my audi and said, “That pin looks exactly like the one used to get the license on my Roger V2 mic.” :slightly_smiling_face:

Should have been more specific. The Lumity RL Life (rechargeable battery) is the friction connection which did not have a pin.
