Rechargeable aids: wanted by customers or by factories?

It amazes me that those who love rechargeables continue wasting their time evangelizing them and their insistence that we should all love them. They seem to miss the whole basis behind this thread.
Zinc replaceables are safe with no ingestion hazards, they are small and easy to quickly change, and lots of us like that option. Others don't want to bother with changing batteries and have reasons why they like rechargeables instead. So what? Help yourself to the ones you like. That portion of us who like replaceables want them to keep being made and available.
Most of what's on the thread is like an argument between Ford lovers and Chevy lovers, or more stupid yet, those who love blue and those who love yellow.
