REM test location?

Where would I go to get a (real ear measurement) test? The office where I purchased my hearing aids was sold to Miracle Ear and their interest is in selling me new hearing aids, not adjusting my present aids. As far as I can remember I have never had a REM test and that would be very helpful in adjusting my aids. I have the proper software (Resound Smart Fit) and the Noahlink wireless and my adjustment has been kind of hit and miss mostly using my iPhone to test increasing or decreasing base/Middle/treble and then adjusting the program and trying that for a day or so. There are many commercial hearing aid offices but again they want to sell me new hearing aids. I contacted the office where I have gone in the past and they are telling me that they can adjust my hearing aids for $250 each.

If they say they will use and use it regularly (so they really know how to use it) then this doesn’t sound terrible all things considered. If you went in to a dentist and asked for the adjustment of some hardware in your mouth I’d expect an estimate something like that. If they didn’t program your aids before, this could be a bit more work than when a regular customer pops in for a tuneup.

Only problem I see is if the $500 is wasted, as in you don’t find much improvement or its worse then your own project, but only one way to find out…

The audiology departments of two local hospitals in NJ charge about $800 for fitting. It might be the way to go if you have given up on , otherwise I think it is a waste of money.

For those prices I will just continue with my present method of making incremental changes and trying for a day or so. So far I have been quite happy with the results.

I did find a website which supposedly can generate an accurate . Someone asked if it would generate a test if done with headphones with the hearing aids in place and they said no. It would seem that would at least give a general indication.
