SmartFit not recognizing my Jabra Enhance Pro 30's

Hello, In the last week, I just picked up my first hearing aids (Jabra Enhance Pro 30 EP362 () 2MP Receiver). When I connect them to SmartFit (version 2.1.305.17), I get this message “Both instruments that you are about to connect do not appear on your instrument list in fitting software. But you may still fit and save changes to the instruments”.

The fitting process does still work and I can successfully download my changes into the EP30’s.
This model of EP30 has replaceable batteries and it is a slightly de-featured of the rechargeable EP30- i.e.: No Intelligent Focus nor the chip so the initial fit from Costco fit has the previous generation “Clear Focus” directionality in the Hear In Noise program

When I go into SmartFit it does not show Clear Focus as an option in the pull-down menu. It has Front Focus, AutoScope, Fixed, Spatial, Soft Switching. Does anyone know if there’s a way to get SmartFit to have Clear Focus in the pulldown menu for these devices? I feel that it might be related to the message of the Instruments note being in the instrument list so maybe someone has a way to fix that issue?

Yeah so you have Jabra and your using ReSound SmartFit, the clear focus is in the “hear in noise” program as it’s beamforming, so it’ll be in the App for you to use.

Actually what you want is to make sure that, in the Hear in Noise program, you select “Intelligent focus”. This is exclusive to the premium rechargeable Vivias, which is what the Jabra EP 30 is. This is where the extra chip kicks in.

Don’t worry about the message from SmartFit you mention. It’s irrelevant.

This is the not the rechargeable EP30, it is the EP30 that uses size 13 batteries. ONly the rechargeable EP30’s come with Intelligent Focus and the chip so mine does not have those features. It only has Clear Focus and so that is how the tech at Costco had set it up. My problem is that when I go into SmartFit, I do see Clear Focus. Front Focus is the closest option I have. So I am just trying to get Clear Focus back as a program option.

I do not have Clear Focus as an option in the Hear In Noise program. It only has Front Focus which is older technology. So I just want to find out if anyone knows of a way to get Clear Focus as an option (there must be a way since Costco had it setup for Clear Focus) :wink:

Are you using at least version 2.1 of SmartFit? The most recent version was SmartFit 2.1 update 2, but Resound has just released version 2.2 which I suppose is needed for the new Enzos.

In any case, version 2.1 update 2 was fine for the Vivias.

But does Jabra actually call it clear focus? Don’t they use their own terminology for the exact same things in SmartFit?

Good point. I just double checked the SmartFit report I had the Costco fitter print for me. It says Clear Focus for the Hear In Noise program. From reading Resound tech documents, Front Focus sounds older and its beamformer can be set to go to 500Hz whereas Clear Focus can bet set down to 250Hz. I’m not sure how big of a deal that makes but point is, it seems like I am Front Focus is actually what my software is loading while Costco had it loaded with Clear Focus. Very strange.
