The Sony CRE-C20 is out of stock at quite a few retailers and I was told that Sony is not replenishing stock because they are discontinuing this model. Does anybody know what the new model is going to be and when it might be released?

I don’t think it’s “discontented” as such as it’s still on their website for now anyway, but whenever Signia update their platform Sony won’t be far behind.

It’s available from Sony , Amazon and BestBuy in the US.

The CRE-C20 is the version of the Signia IX Silk. Signia has not announced when the replacement will be released . We can guess sometime this year.

Soundly says “The Sony hearing aids have all been discontinued at the moment, and they have not indicated or confirmed whether a new model will be released”. Also Sony wont provide them with product anymore and it’s off their website. It was also heavily discounted recently which is a sign of clearing inventory ($300 off). With that said, I’m surprised it’s still on Sony’s website and at full price.

Yeah so I don’t know what’s going on with Soundly saying this, but I’m sure something is in the wind.. hopefully something sooner rather than later, you don’t post your audogram but have you checked is suitable.

I prefer the itc hearing aid.

Does posting my make a big difference in helping select the best hearing aid?

Can I do an online test or must I go to an audiologist?

I have self diagnosed EDT.

Thank you for your help.

Yes as you want models that are suitable for your loss, and it’s best to get your hearing test at the clinic as this will be more accurate but you could just do an online one and post it here.

Oh okay, well you have it next to profile name anyway, so yeah you’d be suitable for models, hearingtracker has some excellent reviews on some other’s you could consider.

Excellent thank you. I noticed soundly took the cre-c20 off their website. Appreciate the help

Ha ha, yeah you always take some of this stuff with a pinch of salt, but remember hearingtracker is independent, and as far as I know just paid advertising on the forum, no endorsements or anything like that, I always recommend hearingtracker over any of the other’s on the interwebs.

Yeah that’s good to know, definitely new information for me about this website. What’s interesting is that this website is suggesting the Jabra 700 for $2000 and soundly is recommending the Sennheiser for $700. I would think there’s more profit in the $2,000 item. Kind of makes me trust soundly quite a bit but who knows

Edited

The Jabra 700 is a weird bird : it needs to be professionally programmed by Jabra remotely by a specialist. In other words, the $2000 include bundled services . It’s a hybrid /Prescription device.

The Sennheiser is a self service aid with no bundled professional services.

The Jabra 700 never made sense to me as an OTC

Never judge the quality of (or for that matter anything) on the “price” what you actually need to do is to trial each, only then would you know which is the better one for your needs.

Makes sense. I was suggesting that I trust a business when they suggest a $700 device over a $2k device as they likely making less profit.

Thank you

I had the Sony 20s and they worked surprisingly well for me in spite of my loss. Almost as well as my Phonaks. But, one fell out when I was jogging in the rain and I couldn’t find it. For me, the biggest problem was the limited Bluetooth. Maybe they will fix that with the new model.

Thank you for that information. Why is Bluetooth so important for phone calls? Doesn’t just wearing the normal hearing aid without Bluetooth help with hearing these calls? Is it just better when it’s streamed through Bluetooth?

I ordered the Sennheiser all clear last night as I’m not sure if the Sony’s are more discreet or not. Maybe if Sony comes out with a new one, I’ll try that one too. Glad to hear you liked the Sony, seems odd it’s discontinued prior to any announcements of a new replacement

But I don’t think it is as such, it’s still available for sale, the Phonak (Sennheiser) are so a bit different in size/spec’s, hopefully you’ll like them.
