Speech Focus slider in behavior in lumity+

I've had my Phonak E70s for about a week. Generally pretty positive overall but I've run into one quirk with the app I'm curious if anyone has insight on. When the aids are in the "Speech in Noise" setting the speech focus slider is about 3/4 of the way to max on the adjust screen. I'm not a 'er but I do have Target and have plugged in my , etc to know what the settings are and their defaults for my setup. Target shows the mic mode set all the way to 20 (max) for Speech in Noise. This is at odds with the app setting. I know in the past the app setting wasn't just the microphone mode and at one time also controlled DNC. My understanding though is DNC is now driven by the Noise Reduction setting in the noise programs (in the default/calm program it still drives the more basic noise filtering).

Anyone have ideas?

For what I know, first half of "Noise Reduction" slider is for ordinary noise reduction from 0 to 20 equivalent in Target software.

The second half of "Noise Reduction" slider is setting the strength of DNC (Dynamic Noise Cancellation).

My question was about the focus slider below that. I believe also that the behavior of Noise Reduction changes depending on the mode. In most programs it controls the "basic" noise filter, what Phonak calls NoiseBlock (good for relatively static noise at specific frequencies). In Speech In Noise that slider controls DNC which is more sophisticated and requires the beamformer to be active in order to work. That is my understanding anyway.

interesting issue! hopefully someone can clarify how the target settings and app speech focus slider are connected.

My working theory - influenced by chatting with an LLM - is that the values you see when adjusting in the app don’t reflect what’s configured in Target, at least for certain settings. For Speech Focus which corresponds to the microphone mode in Target, 3/4 of the way is “Fixed directional” while maxed out is the adaptive beam former.

Supporting this is that many of the AutoSense programs are blended. What you see when as the base program when hitting Adjust just happens to be whichever program is dominant at that moment. For Speech in Noise rather than showing the “real” microphone mode active in the hearing aid, it instead shows a sane default that lets the user adjust it in either direction without being inconsistent. Another thing which sort of backs this up is that I actually hear the mic mode change slightly when going into the Adjust screen from Automatic when the reported mode is Speech in Noise, even before I touch anything.
