Trying to decide between Phonak and ReSound

The Starkey open domes work because the openings in them are smaller than those in other domes I guess. But my audiologist has all but refused to have me try any but Phonak. I would bypass her if I knew exactly what size the Starkey are. They go by metric instead of the small, medium, large.

Thanks, she is using some newer domes that have a longer top on them that is supposed to prevent wax build up even more. So the smallest one is elongated instead of round. And this is where the problem in size arises.

With that loss as how it is visible on the , with domes, especially open, there will be much benefits left on the table. This hearing loss even requires custom earmolds with small vent (or no vent to maximize antinoise features).

I have tried custom molds and I will never even consider them again. After several adjustments my ears were still sore and I was advised by my medical doctor to quit. I am diabetic and immunocompromised with no spleen. And i am a cancer survivor but still have several years till remission. After looking at the chart I can see one of the reasons why I have been strongly advised I cannot use other domes. It deals with the ridges the older Phonak models have. But mine are the new style with just the lip. They look just like the Starkey and the Oticon.

There's nothing wrong with using Starkey comfort buds and these are likely to be preferred with your medical issues, but try to get ones that aren't vented for best performance with your degree of loss. These are the sizes from an Amazon listing for an equivalent product.

Were they hard acrylic molds? Soft silicone earmolds were not suggested?

Did they tried open jaw technique during making impressions?

There's also Easyguard power domes, but I wouldn't resign with earmold.

I have Phonak Lumity 90’s & I have eczema in my ears so have problems with the domes because of the spray I use to treat the eczema as it dries my canal so I coat the bulbous part of the dome with ear olive oil, I use medium vented easyguard domes

I used Phonak Paradise P90R’s for 5 years. I hated them. Towards the end I finally took the advise of several people here. I got 2 Phonak moulded inserts and threw the domes away

The moulded inserts were fantastic. Sound was better and I stopped checking to see if my domes were still in my ear.

A suggestion. Try placing your index fingers on left and right domes. Is it louder? Then I suggest you get inserts.

Resound GN Enzo iA hearing aids 3 weeks old

I currently have the ReSound Nexia Bi-. I was about to try the ReSound Vivia, but my hearing instrument specialist () -- NOT an audiologist -- told me to wait for the ReSound Sensia, which has just been announced. The Sensia is supposed to be much better than the Vivia.

My personal experience has been that audiologists are not as technically savvy with hearing aid fittings as HIS professionals. Just my 2 cents.
