First, let me say I’ve been running my I90 Infinio Spheres for over a 1.8 years and not had this problem before. On 6/18/26 I updated to the latest MyPhonak app version and around 6/29/26, I got the iOS 26.5.2 update. Within days after that, I began to notice unusual battery drain whereas in the almost two years previous, I did not have any such problems.
My running conditions are almost always iPhone in Battery Low-Power mode (in which background app refresh for the MyPhonak app is OFF). Stay Connected turned on in the Devices tab setting of the MyPhonak app. Running in Airplane Mode at home with Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi calling enabled when at home.
The attached images show my iPhone battery usage for the past day when my Spheres have been turned off and kept in their case since 1 PM yesterday (~27 hours ago). The background use of the MyPhonak app is excessively high. Presumably, it’s in some sort of loop trying to find and connect to my hearing aids.
In response to this (to see what happens), I’ve turned off Stay Connected in the MyPhonak app, I’ve gone into normal power mode and turned off Background App Refresh for the MyPhonak app (keeping the elephants away). I’ve forced killed the MyPhonak app and rebooted my iPhone. From now until I figure out what’s causing this, I’ll force-kill the MyPhonak app every time I exit.
I’ve searched the forum but haven’t found any recent posts about unusual battery drain for the MyPhonak app on the iPhone. I have noticed in normal use of my Spheres that iOS has trouble staying connected to my left (currently Master) but not my right. The other apps that show somewhat raised usage, I may have just been using more than usual. And since I had no problem with this before the recent iOS 26.5.2 update, it’s something new in my iPhone setup.
Any sage advice to decipher this problem would be gratefully appreciated.
