I have the Philips 9050 and trying Base dome double (two small holes) and Open Base dome. It is impossible to compare the performance as speech in noise in real time.
And both have been setup for first fit and with

So, am I right in thinking that Base dome double (with more occlusion) must be the better choice for speech in noise?

It’s possible to get some idea of the difference, but you may look a bit silly doing it. Simply wear the open bass domes and then put your fingers in your ears with the domes in place.

You can also try using some foam ear plugs to simulate your fingers.
